The Assistant Division Controller works directly with the project teams to oversee the financial functions necessary for profitable completion of the assigned project(s). The Assistant Division Controller has direct responsibility for all AP, AR, and compliance management processes. Additionally, the Assistant Division Controller is responsible for developing and improving systems and processes related to financial reporting, budget tracking, and variance analysis. The Assistant Division Controller position will report directly to the Division Controller, or their designee, and assure integration of financial accounting and treasury management practices, as necessary. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up and manage project AP, AR, financial tracking and reporting.
- Collaborate with internal and external project teams on project planning, setup, and execution to ensure alignment of financial tracking with operational goals.
- Participate in client meetings and support relationship management through financial insight and responsive communication.
- Assist in the setup and administration of federal and public sector construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable government regulations and contract requirements.
- Contribute to project management functions by coordinating financial workflows with construction schedules and procurement milestones.
- Ensure compliance with the Company's financial policies and procedures, including revenue recognition and payables processing.
- Manage project document repositories.
- Create and maintain processes and procedures in accordance with company standards and/or operational needs.
- Review financial data monthly to ensure completeness of the data, data accuracy, and integrity.
- Produce monthly owner draw requests/bills and present them as required.
- Prepare and update, on a regular basis, project cash flow forecasts.
- Understand and manage job overhead costs.
- Analyze and forecast project profitability, revenue, budgets, and margin.
- Follow up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.
- Periodic travel to project sites should be expected.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Minimum 5 years of construction accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of project setup and management within construction and/or federal contracting environments.
- Proven experience supporting client relationships and project teams.
- Experience in managing financial reporting.
- Capacity to handle pressure daily and remain efficient and productive.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Experience with CMIC preferred.
- Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
Physical Demands:
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
- Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
- Occasional lifting (up to 15 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
