The base salary range for an Implementation Analyst I is $45,000 to $70,000. Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company tenure & equity. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.

Implementation Analyst I - Overview

This role is focused on the implementation of the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) enrollment file feed and is responsible for driving key project deliverables. The Implementation Analyst I provides a range of services to employers, employees, and brokers, and partners in streamlining and simplifying the enrollment process. It's responsible for overseeing the entire implementation process from start to finish, ensuring the ongoing exchange of eligibility information from external sources to the organization's systems. The Implementation Analyst I works with new and existing customers, manages benefit offerings, administrative rules, enrollment needs, and data structures of varying complexity, all while delivering exceptional customer service and communication.



  • Conducts thorough data analysis and review, with the ability to learn and apply mid to advanced Excel skills, including V-lookup, pivot tables, and data manipulation, to ensure accurate and insightful data interpretation
  • In-depth understanding of business rules, core platforms, and applications utilized in daily operations and EDI exchanges including mastering the intricacies of data processing, system functionalities, and integration points to ensure efficient and accurate data management. Leverages this knowledge to identify opportunities for process improvements, troubleshoot issues, and provide strategic insights that align with business objectives.
  • Implements new EDI feeds and onboarding of new vendors, including setup, testing, and certification of new EDI transactions.
  • Conducts multiple rounds of end-to-end testing to identify and resolve any issues, ensuring data integrity and compliance with standards.
  • Analyzes data within different types of EDI file formats and layout specifications, including fixed width, delimited, XML, and proprietary formats.
  • Creates and maintains documentation for EDI processes, mapping, and data configuration. Accurately outlines business rules, process flows, and technical specifications. Ensures documentation is kept up to date for auditing and internal review purposes.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains EDI solutions to integrate various vendors, ensuring secure, efficient, and error-free data exchange.
  • Ensures all EDI processes adhere to security standards and comply with relevant privacy laws, including HIPAA.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all tasks meet service level time requirements and align with business objectives.
  • Provides high levels of customer service by effectively communicating throughout the project process and maintaining system integrity.
  • Engages appropriate business and technical resources to drive implementation efforts and ensure seamless data integration.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves EDI file transfer issues, providing detailed technical analysis and debugging support.
  • Identifies and documents processing errors, working directly with groups, brokers, Partners, and vendors to resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Performs testing and re-certification of new EDI processes to maintain high standards of data accuracy and integrity.
  • Monitors production environments and proactively prioritizes, communicates, and resolves operational EDI process or system issues.
  • Provides ongoing support and maintenance for EDI transactions, ensuring system uptime and data accuracy.
  • Audits data between systems and data files, communicating results back to groups, brokers, Partners, and vendors.
  • Collaborates with the EDI team and other departments to capture business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Ability to gain understanding of the company's core products and apply them to the EDI process. Engage with appropriate business and technical resources to drive implementation efforts and gain further knowledge. Ensure high levels of customer service by effectively communicating throughout the process and maintaining system integrity.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Moderate to strong knowledge of benefits administration including eligibility rules, annual and new hire enrollment cycles
  • Moderate to strong understanding of the enrollment capabilities of one of the offered platforms
  • Ability to understand enrollment platforms with understanding of eligibility requirements, administrative rules, source data and data output
  • Good data analytical skills with the ability to understand, develop and test the relationships between configured rules, eligibility scenarios, data sources, and data output
  • Moderate to strong troubleshooting ability including trace causes of discrepancies by working backward from expected outcomes and data output to configuration settings and benefits requirements
  • Uses understanding of platform capability to independently resolve configuration issues
  • Strong work management skill with the know how to manage multiple enrollment requests simultaneously, tracking and communicating milestones and risks
  • Effective written and oral communication skills demonstrating knowledge of benefits administration process when working with enrollers, account managers, groups, vendors or distribution partners
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite especially Excel and business writing tools like Word and Outlook
  • Basic knowledge of PowerPoint, Visio or comparative applications


Required Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's Degree in areas such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Health Information Management, Data Analytics, Finance or Accounting or related fields of study
  • May substitute certifications in relevant fields and/or equivalent work experience for education
  • Requires a minimum of 1 year of related experience in insurance administration or employee benefits
  • Or, equivalent military experience


Preferred Education and Experience:



  • 1 year experience in one of the following: open enrollment, enrollment systems, benefit administration, or other related work
