Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Quality NDE Examiner/Inspector - Leak Testing to work on our Nuclear Material Acquisition team. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials & Fuels Complex facility with every Friday off. You will perform technical quality control (QC) tasks at INL, including inspections, tests, examinations, and surveillance/oversight activities to validate compliance with customer, engineering, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Conduct nondestructive examinations (NDE) to verify acceptability. Provide input to appropriate stakeholders on inspection processes and requirements. Document all QC activities in writing. Maintain required certifications and qualifications to perform duties. Responsibilities Include:
- Operate test equipment such as: Helium Mass Spectrometer Leak Detection equipment.
- Interpret radiographs, cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters and visual indicators.
- Interface with engineers and manufacturing personnel to provide test results and assist in process improvements, as needed.
- Present training and activities for Inspector Certification.
- Receives instruction and supervision from a certified Level II or Level III. Provide independent quality assurance inspection and surveillance functions in compliance with policies, procedures, and/or work control plans at INL and subcontractor facilities.
- Provide consultation and technical assistance to quality engineering staff on the correct application of inspection discipline and technique.
- Interface with engineers and manufacturing personnel to provide test results and assist in process improvements.
- Train and provide guidance to junior NDT Technicians. Mentor as needed.
- Receive instruction and supervision from a certified Level II or Level III.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Level 4: Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalency and at least 6 years of direct/relevant experience
- Level 5: Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalency and 6+ years of direct/relevant experience
- Leak Testing experience is required.
- As applicable, obtain and maintain all required job-related exam and position qualifications.
- Become certified as a Level II NDE Leak Test Examiner within 9 months of hire date.
- Become certified as a Level II NDE examiner in two or more of the following NDE methods or become a Level III in one or more methods: Leak Test Examiner, Visual Examiner, or Radiography Examiner.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred Experience:
- 4+ years of relevant Leak Testing NDE experience.
- Previous or current Leak Testing ASNT NDE certifications.
- Nuclear quality inspection experience.
- Associate degree in technical field from an accredited institution.
- Visual, Radiographic, or Liquid Penetrant NDE experience and certification.
Job Information:
- The pay range for this position is: Level 4 ($40.53 - $68.90) / Level 5 ($46.61 - $79.23). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
- TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
- Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
