The
Night and Weekends Operations Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the successful execution of evening and weekend operations at NC State's Talley Student Union and Witherspoon Student Center. This position directly supervises the student employment operations team and the setup team, supporting the daily functions of two vibrant student centers that serve as key event and activity hubs on campus.
Working collaboratively with other Student Centers staff, this position ensures events and building operations run smoothly, safely, and in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs) and university fire code regulations. The coordinator provides hands-on support for event setup, equipment inventory management, and basic audiovisual assistance, while also playing a key role in student employee development.
Key Responsibilities
Event & Facility Operations (Evenings and Weekends):
- Manage event operations in Talley Student Union and Witherspoon Student Center during evening and weekend hours.
- Ensure all events are properly set up in accordance with departmental SOPs and applicable safety codes.
- Provide onsite support to clients and guests, including basic troubleshooting of audiovisual equipment.
- Monitor and maintain event equipment inventory, coordinating with the Assistant Director on repairs and replacements as needed.
- Serve as primary point of contact during non-standard hours for any operational or event-related concerns.
Supervision & Student Development:
- Supervise the student employment operations team and setup team, providing evening and weekend oversight.
- Train, schedule, and evaluate student employees in collaboration with the department's student development framework.
- Support ongoing development and mentorship of student employees, encouraging leadership, responsibility, and professional growth.
- Foster a positive working environment that aligns with the values of NC State Student Centers.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the Reservations and Event Coordinators, Facility Enhancement, and Production teams to ensure a seamless execution of event and facility operations.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, student employees, and campus partners to resolve issues and support successful event execution.
- Document incidents, maintenance needs, and operational feedback using departmental reporting tools.

- High School Diploma
- Experience supervising student employees or part-time staff
- Strong interpersonal and organization skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.
- Ability to work independently during evening and weekend hours
