Department Overview

PG&E's Underground Program organization is working to reduce wildfire risk each day as we underground 10,000 miles of distribution lines. We are responsible for working across all internal teams and engaging external stakeholders to support successfully meeting our goals and reducing wildfire risk in our hometowns.We work in an exciting and fast-paced environment. PG&E's Electric Construction Management organization oversees over $2 billion in contract construction work for Electric Operations, including the Undergrounding program, New Business and numerous other critical programs. We deliver safe and efficient construction services for our customers and our internal partners.

Position Summary
Oversees the implementation of Electric safety policies and procedures and provides subject matter expertise on a variety of safety disciplines. Promotes safety and health regulations, policies, and organizational safety and health programs. Leads safety process improvement initiatives.Partners with electric leaders to implement safety programs and advises business groups by providing direction on the development of procedures.

Oversees process development, implementation, and communication. Aligns safety work with the PG&E Safety and Excellence Management System (PSEMS) to ensure structured actions and improved safety processes.PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting.

This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although, we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

1. Minimum: $125,000
2. Midpoint: $170,000
3. Maximum: $215,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight to the design, development, review, and implementation of innovative quality products, programs, services, and solutions to support PSEMS, PG&E safety guidance documents, and Electric's safety goals.Plans, manages, and controls the activities of a team that provides safety support for Electric.
  • Develops in partnership with EH&S a service level agreement and clear roles and responsibilities for both EH&S and the Electric Safety PMO.Sets and achieves department goals in support of established objectives. Develops and implements work plans in support of department goals.Participates in employee selection, career development, succession planning and training
  • Utilizes vision to think ahead to anticipate issues and provide solutions before they impact the team. Analyzes, reports, and provides recommendations and develops strategies to improve safety and quality. Serves as a subject matter expert.upports and implements strategic planning processes for safety.

Qualifications
Minimum:
* Bachelor's Degree in Safety Engineering, Safety Management or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Six (6) years of relevant Safety experience
Desired:
* 2 years in a leadership role
* Master's Degree in Safety Engineering, Safety Management, or related discipline
* Experience in operations, construction, or maintenance.
* Certified Utility Safety Professional certification.
* Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or similar
* Advanced knowledge of PG&E work methods and procedures, safety procedures, the Code of Safe Practices and organizational safety-related processes and procedures
* Advanced knowledge of Cal-OSHA general industry and construction safety orders and other recognized safety regulations and standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA, Fed OSHA, etc.)
* Advanced knowledge of conducting and evaluating complex root cause analysis investigations and evaluating the effectiveness of corrective actions
* Advance knowledge of conducting hazard evaluations for complex or widely impactful/globally applicable jobs and recommending and evaluating the effectiveness of controls
* Advanced knowledge of key PG&E organizations and their potential exposure to safety and health risks
