Job Description

Nature of Work

Manage the operational, financial and/or personnel activities of an assigned crafts, services or maintenance operation.

  • Explains policies and procedures to advise and assist others and/or team
  • May perform some of the work supervised/managed, especially if it is more complicated in nature or to serve as an example
  • Applies operational practices to assist completion of work by others
  • Coordinates resources and sets daily priorities to meet operational objectives
  • Manages purchasing, receiving, storing, distribution and/or processing of materials, equipment and/or supplies
  • Uses judgment to identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems
  • Impacts the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team
  • Explains information and conveys performance expectations
  • Works with internal and external parties

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects to include materials needed, scope of work, financing and workflow. See all projects to completion. Work with Maximo CMM System to facilitate and maximize efficient workflow
  • Must gain working knowledge of all facilities on campus
  • Train and evaluate employees
  • Execute training coordinator duties. Schedule activities and provide needed materials for training
  • Be current on the status/condition of all buildings structural, mechanical, and electrical systems. Understand the basics of the campus geo-thermal energy system
  • Cooperate and be non-contentious with all groups on campus. Foster positive relationships with all individuals and groups
  • Communicate with customers to facilitate work and positive relationships
  • Monitor trades groups in absence of supervisor
  • Provide day-to-day operational management to team
  • Possess formal supervisory responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude: General knowledge of mechanical, electrical and building trades
  • Ability to gain knowledge of all campus buildings and systems
  • Journeyman level experience in one or more of the mechanical, electrical, or building trades
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $62,000 - $73,008.00 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
