Livestock, Poultry, and Dairy New Product Development Sr Scientist

In our IDEXX Livestock, Poultry, and Dairy Division, we are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our New Product Development team. We are focused on development of products that provide value in monitoring the health of animals around the world. You will participate in all phases of product development from early-stage concept development through launch. In addition to technical insight, an ability to drive projects to completion working with internal and external partners is a must.

What will you do?
  • The role is largely a bench-level role, performing development work to move an assay from concept to launch following the new product development process.

  • Understand customer needs and assist in drafting product requirements.

  • Design and perform experiments for early discovery and development, verification and validation, regulatory submissions, and structured problem solving.

  • Data analysis, interpretation, and understanding next steps.

  • Data presentation to both technical and business audiences, small and large groups.

  • Clear documentation of all work with attention to detail.

  • Draft and execute regulatory protocols and submissions for product licensing.

  • Understand IDEXX processes and drive projects to completion, involving all stakeholders.

  • Prioritize and execute on multiple goals and initiatives.

  • Collaborate closely with core team leads and project managers as well as other functional areas across IDEXX.

What do you need to succeed?
  • PhD in biochemistry, immunology, or related field OR master's degree in a biological field with six+ years of experience, OR Bachelors in a scientific field with 10+ years of relevant experience.

  • Exhibit in-depth understanding of biological and chemical principles and concepts.

  • Demonstrate analytical and creative thinking in addition to complex problem-solving.

  • Possess the ability to apply a broad range of tools to critically evaluate, interpret and summarize data (proficiency with a wide range of computer software and scientific tools)

  • Experience writing and executing data in collaboration with regulatory agencies is preferred.

  • Demonstrate an ability to gather and manage necessary resources and influence without authority.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills as well as decision making.

  • Illustrated customer focus and concern for quality.

  • Exceptional verbal, technical writing and interpersonal communication skills. Good presentation skills.

  • Excellent laboratory skills and technique with an ability to maintain accurate and clear documentation.

  • Goal-oriented and highly motivated individual.
