HJF is seeking a Psychologist to function as staff member for all categories of patients. Performs duties as a practitioner and consultant in psychiatry with emphasis on problems of all levels of complexity.

This position will be in support of The Walter Reed National Military Center 7 East Brain Injury Medicine Program (7 East). 7E Is a six- bed inpatient medical-surgical unit, integrated with neuro behavior health team, with a unique model of care allowing treatment of a full spectrum of complications of traumatic brain injury of all levels of severity. The 7 East program specializes in the assessment and management of changes in behavior, social skills, mood, and cognitive, and as such is the only inpatient neuropsychiatry program able to manage the full spectrum of complications of TBI in the DoD, VA, or private sector.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.


Responsibilities

  • Examines, diagnoses, treats, and follows outpatients with psychological problems of all complexities.
  • Provides continuing follow-up for chronic outpatients with acute disorders and complications of these disorders.
  • Provides staff expertise in psychology that is pertinent in a wide variety of circumstances, to include management of patients with psychological disorders.
  • Examines and conducts thorough studies of presenting patients; evaluates laboratory and clinical findings, prescribing appropriate treatment or referring patient to appropriate specialty clinics.
  • Collaborates with physicians in other medical specialties on cases involving complicated and multi-faceted problems.
  • Follows through on all cases to insure effective comprehensive psychological services required.
  • Provides psychological support to special areas.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct Supervisor: Direct authority to make decisions on the following: employee hiring, disciplinary action, starting salaries and merit increases; conduct employee performance evaluations and directs work activities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Doctoral degree required.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to diagnose and treat psychological problems of all complexities.
  • Familiarity with military medical system desirable.
  • Experience working with the military population.
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $100,500-$225,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
