Job Title: Sustainability Programs Administrator
Department: Environmental Health and Sustainability
Classification: Exempt
Hiring Range: $74,714/annual - $84,074/annual

Position Summary: Administers Aspen's sustainability goals by developing and implementing programs and policies in a multi-disciplinary setting. This includes initiatives related to building and resource efficiency, energy and electrification, engineering, policy, communications, and is consistent with the organization's values and mission statement.
Supervision Exercised and Received: Position is supervised by the Sustainability Manager. Position supervises the Sustainability Analyst, with support from the Sustainability Manager.
Essential Job Functions:
Programs and Policy:
- The Sustainability Programs Administrator position works in the following ways in regard to the sustainability of Aspen's buildings and energy: leading complex programs, conducting scientific analysis on environmental/sustainability data, collaborating across departments, leading project teams, crafting and presenting policy recommendations for senior leadership and/or elective officials, and carrying out community engagement and education.
Resource Efficiency Program Management
- Under direction of the Sustainability Manager and through collaboration with other Sustainability Programs Administrators, coordinates all aspects of programs and policies to promote a sustainable built environment.
- Researches, writes, and implements policy related to buildings and energy conservation and efficiency.
- Develops and implements new programs as required. Evaluates the outcome and effectiveness of programs. Programs include Building IQ, residential and commercial energy efficiency programs, resource conservation policies and ordinances, electrification, and building water conservation programs.
Climate Action Plan Assistance
- Supports the Sustainability Manager in coordinating the resource efficiency programs with the Aspen Sustainability Action Plan and other goals and programs of the department.
Building Efficiency and Electrification Outreach
- Responsible for implementing inclusive and equitable programming and outreach.
- Works with the Communications Department and collaborators on the Sustainability team to create strategies for program adoption and public engagement.
- Engages with commercial and residential sectors to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
- Ensures that educational campaigns and programs are aligned with partners, including Holy Cross Energy, Black Hills Energy and CORE, and with the goals of the Climate Action Office.
- Plan, host, and attend events and conferences as a representative of the City's resource conservation programs.
- Oversees the implementation of inclusive and equitable programming and outreach, and ensures the collection and analysis of data to evaluate program effectiveness.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Engineering, or related field.
Experience: Three years of professional experience conducting scientific analysis, policy development or program management for a variety of environmental and sustainability issues
Technical Knowledge: Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (Email). Must have a basic understanding of computers and online computer-based technology applications, which includes accessing web-based platforms.
Licenses & Certifications: Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date.
