General Purpose of Job: The purpose of the HAVC Cardiovascular Technician is to provide consistent provision of care within the Cardiovascular Service Line. This position supports routine care provided in HCH, assists nurses in providing basic care and performs specific procedures with patients. HAVC is defined as the Non-Invasive Department, Cardiovascular Specialty Unit, Heart Canter Holding and Cardiac Cath Lab. Transports patients in a safe and efficient manner throughout Sparrow Hospital and the Sparrow Professional Building. Transports blood, specimens, medical records, equipment, paperwork and other materials throughout the facility. Perform cardiology diagnostic tests and procedures, such as (but not limited to), electrocardiograms Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Performs POCT as assigned
- Coordinate throughput in Cath Lab and HCH
- Performs electrocardiograms on adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
- Prepare patients, operate machine, ensure quality trace, identify abnormalities report critical values, prepare data and assign for physician interpretation.
- Provides direct patient care to cardiovascular patients in Heart Center Holding.
- Transports patients to support HAVC workflow
- Provide technical support including operating, equipment maintenance and minor repairs, and facilitating communication with Information Technology and Clinical Engineering for equipment utilized.
- Maintains and monitors oxygen supplies for patient transport in the HAVC

Work Experience |
* 6 months experience with EKG machines and computerized EKG system. |
Education |
* High School Diploma or GED or successful completion of 12 grades combined with continued enrollment in early college program. |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Must demonstrate proficiency in computer skills to navigate EMR and EKG specific software. * Exhibits outstanding dependability * Self-discipline and motivation * Excellent communication and teamwork skills * Must demonstrate ability to operate, maintain, and make minor repairs/adjustments to equipment. * Knowledge of proper body mechanics. |
