Department:UTILITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT Organizational Unit:County Water and Wastewater (50000092) Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time Open Until Filled. $16.52 to $18.17 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications.North Area/Mims Water Treatment Plant. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes stand-by, overtime, and holidays as needed. Performs entry-level service work assisting with the repair, installation, and maintenance of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water utility system lines and lift stations. REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or its equivalent, as required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), PLUS six (6) months of experience in plumbing, construction, or mechanical repair and/or maintenance of industrial mechanical equipment. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must be physically capable at all times of properly wearing and utilizing all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including appropriate respiratory protection. Must possess, or obtain within six (6) months of employment, a valid Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Basic Flagger certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment.Must successfully complete within eighteen (18) months of employment, a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Water Distribution System Operator Level 3 licenseORa Wastewater Collection Technician Level C certification from the Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Association (FW&PCOA) or another approved agency and maintain said license and/or certification during the term of employment. Must successfully complete all of the Brevard County Mandatory Training for the Development of New Employees within nine (9) months of employment. Must be able to work planned and unplanned overtime. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
