Pharmacy Resident Job Code: PH1435 UVA Prince William Medical Center is recruiting for a 12-month acute care pharmacy resident. This position is located in scenic Manassas Virginia, within close proximity of Washington DC and the Shenandoah mountains. However, this team member may work with preceptors across other UVA Health facilities. This is a fully benefited position with a generous compensation package. Start date is Monday June 16th, 2025. JOB TYPE Classification: Exempt Supervises Positions: No JOB SUMMARY The Pharmacy vision is to deliver optimal medication management across all dimensions of care, every time, and that each Pharmacy employee understands how he or she contributes to the health system's vision of achieving that commitment to patients and families. Each Pharmacy employee will be essential in ensuring that UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper Pharmacy exists to ensure safe, effective, and affordable medication use in our communities, one person at a time. The Pharmacy Resident will provide clinical pharmacy services for assigned area(s), optimizing the quality of patient care under the supervision of a preceptor. The pharmacy resident will be a self-directed, independent, motivated learner as guided by the Residency program director (RPD) and preceptors. Examples of major learning and development activities for the pharmacy resident include: initiate and participate in clinical rounds and research, provide education for physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other health care professionals regarding proper drug therapy, instruct pharmacy students, and conduct quality improvement projects. The pharmacy resident provides pharmacy operation support for the staffing component of the program to develop a well-rounded understanding of all aspects of pharmaceutical care within the hospital setting. The pharmacy resident acts in accordance with current policies and procedures. Appropriate and current state licensure and continuing education requirements must be completed by August 31 of their residency year to continue in the pharmacy residency program. Technical Competency: Provides optimal medication management and promotion of medication safety.
Communication: Ensures timely and consistent communication.
Quality: Checks and controls quality and accuracy of work performed by pharmacy team members.
Teamwork: Develops and delivers effective education to pharmacists and other healthcare providers.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree required - Graduate of an ACPE accredited schoolrequired. PharmD preferred. Experience: Hospital experience preferred.Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: A Doctor of Pharmacy degree and licensure by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy is required by August 31st. Frequent repetitive arm, hand, and finger movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 20 lbs.
