BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the Lodi Hope Harbor Building, assist with all program set-ups, light maintenance, and backup warehouse coverage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Vacuuming all carpeted areas including area rugs, hallways and inside single parent units.
  2. Daily sweeping and mopping all hard surface flooring, including behind all opened doors leading to dining hall, dorms and laundry rooms including behind laundry room equipment.
  3. Daily cleaning ALL Bathroom (men's & women's side, single parent units and public restrooms) toilets, urinals, floors, counters, sinks, showers and mirrors.
  4. Replenishing ALL bathroom supplies as needed.
  5. Daily Cleaning and disinfecting of ALL overnight dorms and single parent units.
  6. Daily washing and re-packing all overnight bedding.
  7. Dusting all surfaces including office desks, counters and windowsills.
  8. Daily cleaning ALL glass doors, door handles and windows inside and out.
  9. Keeping inventory of all janitorial supplies and placing restock orders monthly.
  10. Trash collecting for entire building inside and out, including cleaning and emptying all trash cans.
  11. Buffing all laminated floors as needed per Shelter Director or Assistant Corps Officer's request.
  12. Program set-up of tables and chairs as assigned by Shelter Director and/or Assistant Corps Officer.
  13. Daily communication with Facility Manager of any/all necessary inside and/or outside building repairs.
  14. Cleaning Hope Harbor vehicles inside and out.
  15. Oversight of Program Clients as needed while assisting with Shelter cleaning.
  16. Ability to fill in/cover front desk shift when and if needed during lunch breaks.
  17. Performing any other work necessary to maintain the appearance, cleanliness and safety of Hope Harbor Shelter.
  18. Other related duties as assigned by the Shelter Director and/or Corps Officer and/or Corps Assistant Officer.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS



  1. Minimum of 6 months prior experience in a maintenance, custodian, or janitorial position.
  2. High school diploma or GED required.
  3. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  4. Must possess a valid California class C driver's license.
  5. Must satisfactorily participate in the Driver Fleet Safety Program.
  6. Good communication skills are required. Must be able to comprehend English instructions and communicate clearly when answering the telephone and greeting visitors.
  7. Must have the ability to operate a switchboard, including paging.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS



  1. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
  2. Must be 21 years or older.
  3. Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program.
  4. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires:



  1. Frequent lifting of 30 pounds or more.
  2. Frequent climbing of ladders.
  3. Good mobility with the ability to climb, crawl, bend and have good dexterity in regard to grasping, reaching, and handling.
  4. The ability to operate indoor cleaning machines (i.e., vacuum, buffer) and grounds keeping equipment (i.e., lawn mower, edger, blower).
