Position Summary:
|
The Zahava and Moshael J. Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought trains Yeshiva University students to be Orthodox intellectual leaders who are well versed in both Torah and the Western canon. Through a combination of unique, interdisciplinary courses taught in collaboration with faculty from within and beyond YU, as well as communal events, professional mentorship, and publications, the Straus Center seeks to cultivate the intellectual, religious, and civic leaders of tomorrow. At the forefront of the Center is the Straus Scholars Program, a competitive scholarship for Stern College for Women and Yeshiva College students that provides select students who display high academic achievement and leadership potential with courses, extracurricular programs, and small group seminars with visiting dignitaries and intellectuals. The goal of the highly selective program is to offer the aspiring intellectual leaders an unparalleled education through the study of the great works of the Jewish tradition in conversation with Western politics, art, literature and philosophy. The Assistant Director of Operations will coordinate all internal and external communications, coordinate Straus Center events and conferences, and serve as liaison between the Straus Center and YU internal departments.

Position Responsibilities:
|
- Draft and coordinate all internal and external Straus Center communications, including written coverage of public and student events, student correspondence, maintaining the website, developing a social media strategy, publicity materials (including monthly listserv newsletter updates, event flyers and invitations, director's report), and podcasts
- Assist in editing and research for Straus Center publications, including books, long-form essays, and student publications
- Oversee Straus Center social media accounts-Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Logistical coordination of public, donor, and student events such as writing workshops, conferences, and academic retreats, including but not limited to audio-visual, venue, catering, speakers, parking, marketing, flier design, flights, honoraria, and reimbursements
- Serve as liaison between Straus Center and YU internal departments, including but not limited to Procurement, HR, Events, Marketing and Communications, Facilities, Security, Registrar, and Dining Services
- Assist Straus Center faculty with logistical course preparation, including copying, printing, and book purchasing
- Attend and staff Straus Center events, including a limited number of nights and weekend events
- Other administrative tasks as necessary, including tasks for the Office of the Provost

Experience & Educational Background:
|
- Master's degree in Jewish studies or a related field required
- Candidates should possess at least 4-5 years of experience in an educational setting, with administrative experience preferred
|
Skills & Competencies:
|
- Knowledge of the Jewish community and its trends
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies, including students, faculty, donors, and administrators
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, strong analytic and problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task, effectively prioritize work, and adjust to changing workloads and deadlines
- Skill in developing and implementing new strategies and procedures

$75,000 - $80,000
