A Lab Aide is needed in an immunology laboratory investigating methods of boosting immune function. Using mouse models, the focus of the lab is to understand the natural repair mechanisms of the immune system so that they may be exploited into therapeutic strategies to boost immune function. The position will be responsible for performing bench-level experiments, operating analytical instruments, recovering, compiling and verifying the accuracy of research data; performing calculations; preparing charts, graphs and summaries.



Responsibilities

The individual in this position will assist with genotyping mice and general mouse husbandry. The incumbent will also be responsible for general laboratory duties, such as preparation of lab stock solutions, lab maintenance, and emptying biohazard waste.

JOB DUTIES

    Assist with genotyping and mouse husbandry.
  • Prepare media and reagents, such as stock solutions.
  • Restock lab supplies.
  • Empty biohazard waste.
  • May assist with experiments and set-up.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to learn new skills quickly.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrollment in a university-level science degree program (e.g. biology, chemistry, or biochemistry).
  • Previous or current coursework in biology and/or chemistry and past laboratory experience.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $29.54 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
