Brief Overview
Reporting to a Construction Manager and Project Manager, the Assistant Construction Manager is responsible for assisting in the development and construction management activities of Master-Planned Community Development for assigned Projects. Assists in planning and supervising a wide range of construction activities from start to finish. Will assist in organizing and overseeing construction procedures and work to ensure they are completed within time and budgetary constraints. Will have an understanding of the development and construction business and the ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment are important.

What you will do



  • Works in partnership with the Development Team supporting the application of approved standards and post-project review and ensure planning and products delivered are in-line with approved guidelines and standards. In general, supports the Construction Manager as directed.
  • Works with governmental and nongovernmental jurisdictional authorities for permitting, design approval and construction implementation.
  • Assists in developing specific contractor requirements and establishes clear and verifiable expectations.
  • Participates in construction bidding process.
  • Assists in developing plans and budgets for review and approval. Assists in orchestrating and driving successful and timely design of construction projects to achieve the business goals, including the identification and resolution of risk and issues, which impact project delivery.
  • Supports selection of and adherence to contractual agreements, with architects, engineers, general contractors and other vendors in support of project delivery. Assists in analyzing bids and interviews bidders and evaluates qualifications.
  • Participates in a functional, creative, efficient, and cost-effective design and implementation process.
  • Works collaboratively with team to develop comprehensive project plans.
  • Assists in developing and monitoring actual schedule and costs against structured project plans; monitor actual schedule and costs against the project estimates. Reports significant variances to Construction Manager and assists in developing corrective action plans.
  • Communicates effectively with staff and management on status, issues, risks, project goals and objectives.
  • Assists in creating and distributing project status reports and review the work progress on daily basis.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university Preferred or
  • 2+ years of experience in a relevant construction or development role Preferred
  • 1-3 years Minimum of two to three years or proven working experience in the construction industry or project management, planning, estimating, monitoring, and reporting through the full project lifecycle, from initiation through closure Preferred and
  • Strong process management, project management and people management skills.
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with individuals at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Strong time management with attention to detail.
  • A high degree of professionalism and strong work ethic coupled with sense of responsibility and integrity required, also competent in conflict and crisis management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, Teams and Excel required. some experience with Project Management Software is preferred.
  • Ability to travel, walk construction sites. A limited amount of climbing ladders may be required.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and criminal background check.
  • Requires a self-motivated, team player who pays close attention to detail, must be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment, multi task, and is highly organized.
  • Ability to work independently but also thrive in a dynamic and team oriented environment.
  • Results-oriented with strong project management and execution skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills with ability to sustain strong relationships with clients, peers, and business partners. Strong meeting organization and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to interact with multiple levels in an organization and industry professionals.
  • DL NUMBER - Driver's License, Valid and in State Texas Required
