Function: Environmental, Health & Safety
Job Summary:The Environmental Field Coordinator is responsible to coordinate and promote continuous environmental compliance throughout the Donaldsonville Complex. This position is responsible for environmental compliance activities in the field as well as in the office. Primary responsibility of this position include environmental field inspections, monitoring, and recordkeeping mainly related to waste management. As a member of the EHSS Team, the position plays a critical role in engaging and incorporating environmental stewardship in the overall EHSS culture.
Job Description:
Functional:
- Execute well-defined and routine activities such as data collection, entry, reporting, inspecting/auditing, sampling/monitoring, and other field support
- Represents the environmental team during project planning and turnaround meetings
- Interacts with other departments to maintain environmental compliance expectations
- Prepares internal and external reports as needed
- Ensure the facility's systems and associated practices are maintained to minimize risk and ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local regulations as well as company standards
- Provide support during company audits and site inspections by regulatory personnel
- Able to make routine decisions with ample guidance and/or precedence
- Proactively identifies safety and environmental challenges and provides practical solutions
- Support and provide guidance to other department personnel for waste management related matters
- Completes other assignments or functions as requested by the EHSS Manager or Supervisor
- Applies field oversight to environmental regulatory compliance
Environmental Monitoring & Reporting
- Manage site-wide solid and hazardous waste program and recycling program, including profiling, handling, shipments, tracking, and directing others on material movements/transfers
- Create and track waste manifests
- Prepare cost estimates for waste disposal
- Perform solid waste and hazardous waste staging area(s) inspections and container management
- Perform SPCC, SWPPP, and any other internal or regulatory required inspections periodically
- Generate, renew, and/or maintain waste profile certifications
- Coordinate spill clean-up as needed
- Support outage and turnaround activities by participating in the planning and ongoing outage update meetings
- Audit field environmental compliance routinely as well as during plant outages
- Oversees groundwater, storm water, and wastewater field compliance
- Collection of environmental samples and/or data
EHSS Team:
- Actively participate and engage as a member of the EHSS team, collaborate, and contribute to the overall improvement of EHSS
- Actively participate in inter-company activities as requested
Internal Controls:
- Understands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls effort
- Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies
Successful candidates will have:
- A related college degree or high school diploma with a minimum of 10+ years of experience working in the manufacturing, consulting, or regulatory role with focused field environmental management experience
- Basic knowledge of environmental regulations and the applications of pollution abatement equipment and procedures
- Strong time management and organizational skills; including the ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects with competing demands
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to influence culture
- Ability to clearly define, plan, and accomplish objectives and adapt well to changes
- Attention and responsiveness to manage efficiently the environmental compliance needs
- Good verbal communication and technical writing skills
- Approved or the ability to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)
- Maintain HAZWOPER (40-hr) certification
Position Scope/Contribution:
- This position is responsible for providing technical support for environmental compliance, continuous improvement, ensuring cooperation with business objectives, and impacts upon the process environmental performance and culture of the facility
- Primary function of position will be to coordinate field environmental compliance and efficient waste and water (storm, ground, waste) program management
