Terminal Manager

Job Summary

Manages all aspects of material handling through the facility. Supervises the Dumping, of coal trains . Partners with CSX internal departments and contractors to facilitate efficient movement of customers' product.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities



  • Works directly with CSX customers to ensure timely loading vessels and Barges .
  • Develops and manages storage processes and procedures in conjunction with customer requirements.
  • Supervises pier maintenance and manage maintenance activities on various shifts.
  • Ensure execution of preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Lead troubleshooting and recovery efforts during system failure.
  • Managing reservations and permits within ShipCSX/Oredocks and expediting loaded and empty trains with the Division and Terminal to match operational requirements of Coal Piers.
  • Prepares daily communications regarding appropriate performance metrics.
  • Maximize the number of tons of product transitioning through Curtis Bay Coal Piers.
  • Coordinate with local transportation, external customer vessel coordinators, and local vessel agents daily.
  • Ensure compliance with United States Coast Guard, FRA, EPA and other federal regulations


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
  • 3 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, the Military, or Skilled Trades (building/construction, electrical, mechanical)


Equivalent Minimum Qualifications



  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 5 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, the Military, or Skilled Trades (building/construction, electrical, mechanical)


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
  • 3 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, the Military, or Skilled Trades (building/construction, electrical, mechanical)
  • 3 or more years of supervisory experience in Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, the Military, or Skilled Trades (building/construction, electrical, mechanical)


Knowledge and Skills



  • Railroad industry knowledge
  • Knowledge of terminal operations
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Mainframe systems skills
  • Personal leadership skills
  • Knowledge of CSX yard systems
  • Knowledge of CSX operating rules

Job Requirements



  • Available to report to work with two-hour advance notice
  • Must poses a valid driver's license and be able to acquire a TWIC.
  • Different shifts as assigned in a 24 hour/7 days a week operation (incl working weekends)
  • May be required to complete a background check
  • Wear protective equipment (such as welding shields, hard hat, hearing protection)
  • Work with hazardous materials on an occasional basis
  • Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non-standard work week)
  • Work outside in all weather conditions
