Professor of Practice - Counseling and Addiction Recovery Sciences 40770BR Comm Family Addict Sciences CFAS Position Description he Department of Community, Family, and Addiction Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS) at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, assistant professor of practice position in the Counseling and Addiction Recovery Sciences (CARS) undergraduate program, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2025. We welcome all applicants with demonstrated effectiveness as teachers, who possess clinical or teaching experience in mental health or addiction recovery counseling and have a record of professional service. About the Department/School/Area The mission of the Department of Community, Family, and Addiction Sciences (CFAS) is to prepare future professionals to enrich the lives of others utilizing a systemic perspective. To this end, the CFAS Department is home to programs specifically focused on empowering students to develop skills in counseling, addiction and recovery, licensed mental health practice, and applying a scientist-practitioner approach to producing meaningful scholarship. The CFAS Department is home to highly regarded programs, including the Counseling and Addiction Recovery Sciences (CARS) undergraduate degree program, master's and doctoral degree programs in Couple, Marriage, and Family Therapy (CMFT), and a doctoral degree program in Addictive Disorders and Recovery Sciences (ADRS). Major/Essential Functions At Texas Tech University, the Professor of Practice title is used to recruit individuals with exceptional backgrounds and achievements in academic, business, government, or other professional practice. Primary responsibilities normally will be to teach in an area of expertise, mentor students in professional and career preparation, and liaise with professional contacts and entities on behalf of the department or program.
