Join us in improving lives during pivotal care moments! Summary: We're seeking a driven and innovative database engineer to join the Cloud Engineering team. In this role you will own the buildout and upkeep of relational databases for running Bamboo applications. You'll create and develop automations responsible for everything from regular maintenance to driving major database version upgrades. You'll use your knowledge of cloud services and databases to guide both your team and application teams in their best use. What You'll Do: * Build the foundation of the Bamboo Health platform with product and engineering teams * Own our database platforms, ensuring teams are equipped for performance and efficiency * Diagnose, resolve, and prevent recurrences of production issues * Optimize current solutions with a focus on cost, reliability, and performance * Quickly triage and resolve production situations as they arise * Evaluate new software and service offerings against the current platform vision * Work with our security team to continuously ensure our platform's compliance with HITRUST and other standards What Success Looks Like... In 3 months... * Develop an understanding of the as-is state of the Bamboo Health product lines & technical stack * Work with application teams to optimize queries * Developing relationships with key stakeholders In 6 months... * Gain working knowledge of core Bamboo Health supporting infrastructure and automations. * Respond to DB-related production emergencies as a database specialist alongside the call rotation and executing sensitive off-hours changes on release as needed. * Contribute to the design and maintenance of new and existing infrastructure In 12 months... * Achieve comprehensive knowledge our databases and applications * Implement solutions to contribute new functionality and higher reliability to our systems * Work with application teams to refine and improve their use of our platform What You Need: * 5+ years of software development or operations experience * Experience working with a public cloud such as AWS, Google Cloud, or similar * Experience with Amazon Aurora or similar managed cloud RDBMSes * Knowledge of a common scripting language such as Python, Ruby, etc * Experience working in Terraform, CloudFormation, or other infrastructure as code systems * Knowledge of PostgreSQL and MySQL database management systems * Experience working in an agile delivery environment * Self-starter with an ability to solve problems with little or no direction and a passion for driving change * Strong leadership skills to mentor and assist less experienced team members * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of judgment and creativity in designing innovative solutions. * Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth, and rapidly evolving environments. * Ability to work effectively in a remote-first environment, ensuring high-quality virtual interactions with minimal distractions. * The ability to travel periodically or frequently for work.
