Overview
The Capital Markets Portfolio Risk Officer will be part of the Capital Markets Risk Management team responsible for the credit delivery process of Financial Sponsors for balance sheet debt capital strategies. The Institutional Financial Sponsors segment is CNB's interface in the institutional markets and sponsors, across Private Equity, Private Credit, Hedge Fund, Asset Managers, Family Offices, etc. The Capital Market Portfolio Risk Officer will provide independent oversight of all aspects of credit quality of assigned portfolios, including underwriting, negotiating, and monitoring execution of specific Credit Facilities and Investment Trade Activities. Responsibilities consist of the review and approval of individual credits as per the Credit Approval Matrix, including recommendations as to loan structuring. Develops market risk management strategies. Principal Duties & Responsibilites:
Responsible for underwriting, negotiating, and monitoring of Institutional Financial Sponsor transactions as an active member within the Bank's Capital Markets Risk Management team.
Utilize in-depth knowledge of financial statements and other business data to make independent recommendations. Focus on coverage for Institutional Financial Sponsors credit and investment transactions (e.g. term loans, revolvers, credit facilities, fund finance facilities, portfolio facilities, secondary market, private placements, asset-backed credit facilities, etc.). Recommends and enhances existing risk measurement methodologies to provide greater line of sight to market risk drivers within the Capital Markets Risk Management team. Independently identify market risks and opportunities to develop and recommend strategies. Makes independent decision within credit limit authority and makes recommendations on credit requests above existing authority. Engage in collaboration with Loan Syndications and Senior Bankers within Capital Markets to present compelling pitches for prospective clients. Guide and support Capital Markets business lines/products groups/examination function/legal function/risk management function on credit and risk related issues. Identify capital market opportunities to responsibly grow the loan portfolio during sponsor(s) review. Attend leading industry events on occasion (e.g. capital markets, structured finance, asset-backed securities, etc.) Keep up to date on industry trends, market conditions, and emerging opportunities within the Private Equity, Private Credit, and Hedge Fund segment(s). Willing to travel at least 20 to 30% of time. Serve as subject matter expert in all aspects of specialty credits (e.g. ABS, Fund Finance, capital market transactions).
Qualifications
- More than 10 years proven experience in structuring and underwriting capital markets, investment banking, private equity, private transactions.
Focus on Financial Sponsors Private Equity, Private Credit, Hedge Funds, Asset Managers, etc. Structuring fund finance and asset-backed credit solutions. Strong understanding of financial markets and investment. Ability to travel at least 20 to 30% of time as required. Highly organized and detail oriented. Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with investors and financial partners. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, and Pivot Tables.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Real Estate, economics, or a related field.
- Master's Degree in Finance, Real Estate, economics, or a related field.
