Essential Job Duties |
Join NC State University's
Environmental Services Unit as an
Environmental Services Technician and help maintain the welcoming and professional atmosphere of the
Chancellor's residence. In this high-profile role, you'll play a vital part in creating a
clean, safe, and comfortable environment by performing detailed cleaning and sanitizing tasks using both standard and specialized equipment. This position requires attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to interact professionally in a setting that represents the university. Working Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday
Key responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
Clean and sanitize designated areas to ensure a hygienic and presentable environment- Identify and report building discrepancies, damages, or maintenance needs
- Respond to building emergencies and inclement weather situations as needed
- Operate housekeeping equipment such as vacuums, mops, and scrubbers
- Perform periodic deep cleaning, floor polishing, carpet extraction, and pressure washing
- Manage recycling collection from centralized indoor locations
- Assist with seasonal cleaning, including window washing and other specialized tasks

Other Responsibilities |
- Perform snow and ice removal within a team environment during inclement weather, in addition to coordinating with coworkers during group response to emergencies
- Perform team cleaning tasks and projects during breaks, and when space is accessible
- May be required to fill in for absenteeism outside of assigned area
- Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special certification may be required for some of these positions. |
Other Required Qualifications |
- The position requires the ability to frequently lift 30 lbs. and occasionally up to 60 lbs. (with or without reasonable accommodation), grasp, push, and pull cleaning equipment, reach above shoulders, bend, squat, climb, balance, communicate effectively with supervisors and the public, and follow instructions and communications regarding assignments
- Experience performing housekeeping duties
