This is an active, hands-on role!


Monday-Friday 10:30am - 7:00pm, Weekends required monthly.

Role and Responsibilities:


We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Control Supervisor to join our team at the U.S Coast Guard Academy. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all operational services meet contractual, regulatory, and quality standards.



  • Work with a team primarily composed of individuals with disabilities.

  • Conduct regular inspections to assess cleanliness and identify areas needing improvement.

  • Train custodial staff on cleaning techniques, equipment use, safety procedures, and quality standards.

  • Develop and implement checklists and protocols to maintain consistent quality in cleaning services.

  • Address any complaints about cleaning services and take corrective actions as needed.

  • Keep detailed records of cleaning activities, inspection results, and incidents.

  • Prepare necessary reports for management and re-inspect serviced areas.

  • Measure and analyze processes, implementing actions to drive continual improvement.

  • Conduct monthly safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments.

  • Investigate work-related accidents and implement corrective actions.

  • Ensure employees follow GS-42 protocols for handling hazardous cleaning materials.

  • Stay updated on changes to laws and regulations affecting the organization.


Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 1 year commercial janitorial or custodial experience.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience evaluating the quality of custodial or janitorial work performed by others.

  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in custodial services, including OSHA, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and local regulatory compliance.

  • In-depth knowledge of the proper use, maintenance, and handling of janitorial equipment and supplies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.


Preferred Skills



  • Previous experience in quality control or inspection in a custodial or cleaning environment.

  • Experience leading, supervising or training individuals a team.

  • Familiarity with GS-42 protocols for handling hazardous materials.

  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and foster a positive team environment.

  • Experience with safety training and hazard assessments.


Physical & Environmental Demands:



  • Standing and walking for long periods of time.

  • Ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies, equipment, or materials up to 40 lbs.

  • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.

  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals (PPE will be provided).

  • May be required to work in varying temperatures (cold or hot environments).

  • Ability to work in noisy environments with potential exposure to dust and other environmental factors.

  • Reasonable accommodations can be provided.
