About the Job

The Department of Neurology at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a faculty member at the Associate Professor position from candidates with a Ph.D or equivalent degree specializing in biomedical engineering, electrical & computer engineering, neuroscience, or related fields. Experience with imaging biomarker development and analysis in ALS or Parkinson's Disease is required. The successful applicant will be expected to collaborate with the Neuromuscular Medicine Division conducting clinical and translational research. Responsibilities will include supervising diverse teams of research staff, securing extramural research funding, publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts, teaching students and fellows, and participating in service activities.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Conduct and lead imaging biomarker research studies to support clinical and research programs.
2. Originate research ideas leading to extramural grant applications
3. Obtain research funding through grant proposals (e.g. NIH funding)
4. Lead acquisition and analysis of imaging data
5. Write research manuscripts for publications
6. Supervise and mentor undergraduate, graduate students, junior scientists, fellows, and postdocs working on related research projects

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Neuroscience or related science and engineering field
* Strong track record of securing extramural research funding and peer-reviewed publications
* Expertise with imaging biomarker development, specifically in neurologic diseases such as ALS or Parkinson's Disease
* Expertise in analysis and interpretation from Magnetic Resonance Images (MRI) is highly desired
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinicians and peer faculty in the Neurology department

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $125,000 - $140,000 ; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
