As the Senior Data Product Analyst, under limited supervision, you are responsible for partnering with different facets of the business and serving as a data product expert. You will identify data user needs, opportunities and technology trends. You will develop instantaneous data solutions that source, structure, curate and visualize data to enable business operations, insights and advanced analysis. You will ensure solutions incorporate a view of complex dependencies, historic data, risk and compliance.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Determine Data Needs

  • Establish partnerships with business units and act as subject matter expert on data needs and data gaps.
    • Work with key business contacts in different departments to identify opportunities to improve data-use within their business processes.
    • Identify missing data gaps and assess on-going data needs within the organization.
    • Ensure understanding of future data needs so that data products are efficient and do not slow down users.
    • Analyze the business needs, profile large data sets and build custom data models and applications to drive Capital Group's business decision making and customers experience.
    • Demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Data Product Management

  • Establish partnerships with IT, and other business units, to develop and deliver enterprise-scale products that extract, transform and integrate data from different data sources.
    • Perform assessments of sourcing, integration and validation options in conjunction with IT and business stakeholders.
    • Improve business process through automation and data sourcing that increases efficiency, improves accuracy, and reduces risk.
    • Contribute to data model designs for the data warehouse by analyzing business process and providing input on business data flows.
    • Plan, contribute and sign off on user acceptance tests for production deployments.
    • Ensure best practice solutions are built on Capital Group's data foundation and understanding of Capital Group's technology, data, processes, people, and culture.
    • Develop ways for checking compliance and risk mitigation through impact analysis of failed or trending compliance results, root cause analysis and case management.

Design & Build Data Products

  • Design and build business intelligence or self-service solutions.
    • Design, build, and launch collections of reusable data models and visualizations that support multiple use cases across different products or domains.
    • Provide guidance in design sessions and peer reviews.
    • Leverage analytics workbench (e.g. Alteryx, R, SQL) to develop solutions.
    • Work with complex data structures and provide innovative ways to solution to meet data delivery requirements.
    • Prototype complex reporting and/or data visualization solutions in partnership with IT or other business units.
    • Ensure solutions meet operational Service Level Agreement's.
    • Develop and promote standardized documentation for internal team members.
    • Design, develop and execute test plans for solutions to ensure data quality and accuracy.

Support Operation

  • Provide ongoing support for data products and ensure continuous improvements meet the clients' expectations.
    • Develop and execute exception-based review and reconciliation of data between internal systems and alternative data sources.
    • Retrieve and validate external data and ensure appropriate ingestion of data into internal systems and databases.
    • Ensure the reliability of data sets and provide approval for critical data elements.
    • Provide requirements and user-acceptance testing for enterprise solutions that source, transform, and deliver data.
    • Ensure data quality and data integrity .
    • Assist in owning existing processes running in production and optimizing complex code.
    • Work with data governance teams to analyze, establish connection and secure deep taxonomies across/within portfolios, assets, transaction and product allocations, etc.

Incorporate Best Practices

  • Ensure adoption of best practices in data automation: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation and documentation.
  • Develop and extend design patterns, processes, standards, frameworks, and reusable components for various data functions/areas.
  • Stay current with industry trends on data automation and visualization tools.
  • Influence and develop a thorough understanding of standards and best practices.
  • Focus on streamlining operations which may include leveraging cloud-based solutions.
  • Ensure new platforms have new tools to combine with existing analytics tools, while maximizing legacy systems.

Provide Leadership for the Department

  • Lead data projects across business units and/or IT.
  • Develop trusted relationships with Technology leaders, business leaders and stakeholders to drive optimized product delivery.
  • Drive operational efficiencies.
  • Lead team in creating a data-driven culture.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Work with single to multiple stakeholders to understand requirements, continuously iterate through solutions, and provide high quality deliverable while ensuring an exceptional stakeholder experience.

  • You have a degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • You demonstrate the ability to quickly understand new concepts, processes and technology tools.
  • You demonstrate initiative in identifying alternative approaches and processes to improve and optimize data integration, delivery and scalability.
  • You have advance knowledge and skilled at translating unstructured business problems into clearly defined requirements framework.
  • You are proficient with technical and functional designs for databases, ETL, data warehousing and reporting.
  • You demonstrate working knowledge of scripting for automation such as R, Python, Alteryx, etc.
  • You have advanced knowledge of SQL.
  • You demonstrate working knowledge of reporting/data visualization tools such as Tableau, SSRS and Power BI.
  • You demonstrate working knowledge of Dremio, AWS, Azure and Databricks.
  • You demonstrate the ability to test and ensure that project solutions align to requirements.
  • You demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills, with the ability to express technical and business concepts to various functional teams.
  • You have working experience with Agile methodologies and durable team concepts.
  • You demonstrate the ability to deal with ambiguity in taking a problem statement to execution.
  • You demonstrate the ability to organize workflow to deliver products in a matrixed organization.
  • You demonstrate the ability to lead small to medium sized projects across multiple teams.
  • You demonstrate the ability to collaborate and develop/maintain relationships within Capital.
  • You demonstrate leadership skills to provide guidance to and mentor other associates.
Southern California Base Salary Range: $136,858-$218,973 San Antonio Base Salary Range: $112,509-$180,014 Indianapolis Base Salary Range: $119,840-$191,744

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
