Description
Position Summary: The Furniture Spray Booth Operator is tasked with preparing and spraying furniture for the Decorating Department, as well as repairing and respraying imported furniture with nitrocellulose lacquer. They will also work with Special Projects/Visuals on non-product related projects and clean and maintain Binks pressure pots, spray guns and spray booths. Ensure quality control and adherence to safety protocols. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned) * Spray Painting: Apply high-quality paint finishes to furniture pieces, including cabinets and chairs, using various spray gun techniques. Focusing on primer, water base topcoat and vinyl sealer on internal and exported furniture. * Spray Booth Operation: Safely operate and maintain spray booth equipment, including HVLP and airless spray guns, to ensure efficient and accurate application of paint. * Maintenance: Regularly clean and maintain spray guns, spray booth filters, and other equipment to ensure top performance and minimize downtime. * Lifting and Handling: Lift and move medium-sized furniture items (e.g., cabinets, chairs) as needed during the painting process. * Production Support: Collaborate with production teams to solve issues related to painting quality, equipment performance, or workflow disruptions. * Quality Control: Ensure all painted items meet company standards for finish quality, color consistency, and durability. * Safety and Compliance: Follow safety protocols, wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and ensure that all work is done in compliance with health and safety regulations. * Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to spray guns, booths, and other equipment, ensuring smooth operations. * Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to meet production goals and solve any production issues promptly. Partner with design team to help with new prototype production needs to achieve desired results. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications
Education and Experience: * High school diploma or GED * 2-3 years working with spray equipment in a production environment Location: Aurora, NY Requirements: * Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and maneuver medium-sized furniture, such as cabinets and chairs, on a daily basis. Partner with Quality Inspector to receive new items by unboxing assisting with the movement into other work areas. Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently or consistently to move objects * Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of spray booth operations, spray gun maintenance, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues. * Attention to Detail: Excellent eye for quality control, ensuring that all painted surfaces meet the required standards. * Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with the team to address production issues and improve workflow. * Safety Conscious: Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to adhere to safety standards in a paint spray booth environment. * Additional Work Center Support: Willingness to learn new skills and support other workcenters when production, may include assembly, packing or other production needs to ensure on time delivery. Environmental Conditions: The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions including fumes, odors, mists, or poor ventilation and oil, and at times must wear a respirator.
