Overview

The Shipping/Receiving Clerk is responsible for monitoring incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring the accurate and timely receipt, storage, and dispatch of products and materials. This position involves verifying shipment contents, maintaining inventory records, and coordinating with carriers and internal departments.

**Work schedule is 8am - 4pm, Mon. through Fri.**

** Pay commensurate with experience **

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: May include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Guides the direction of Shipping/Receiving, Transportation, and Non-Manufacturing related materials handling, maintaining commitment to continuous improvement and support of internal and external customers
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of functions; proposes changes and assures successful implementation of approval improvements
  • Helps to compose and maintain Work Instructions regarding Shipping/Receiving, Transportation, Gateway, and Warehouse operations; ensures that all appropriate personnel are trained in current applicable Work Instructions, Quality System Procedures, and Safety and Health Instructions
  • Compares identifying information and courts; weighs or measures items outgoing or incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, packing slips, address labels, and other records
  • Determines method of shipment, if required
  • Affixes/ensures shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons
  • Verifies wooden or cardboard containers and pre-assemble containers are ordered and available
  • Ensures product to pallets using stretch wrap or metal banding
  • Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto creates or containers
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
  • Operates lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work areas
  • Operates powered lift truck or hand truck to load outgoing freight onto trucks
  • Performs all necessary computer transactions
  • Operates weight scale and digital counter
  • Unpack and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
  • Routes items to Work Centers

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience - Must have a High School diploma or GED; or 1 to 3 months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Must be certified for forklift. Must have, or be willing to obtain, Class A CDL

Language Ability - Able to read, analyze, and interpret business documents. Able to effectively instruct others, present information and respond to questions from managers or peers

Math Ability - Able to do simple math equations (add, subtract, multiply, divide and percentages)

Communication Skills - Speaks clearly in positive or negative and listens to others without interrupting

Computer Skills - Able to do simple data entry of manufacturing information into spreadsheets, databases and manufacturing systems

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
