The Research Manager works in conjunction with the Director of Research Operations, Project Directors, and other research staff to manage our team of 10-12 Research Assistants and projects in data collection.
Their primary role is to manage, mentor, and coach all research assistants to ensure data collection on all projects runs efficiently and are fully staffed/supported.

The Research Manager has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and is a motivational people manager who embodies strong drive and determination to see their team thrive and projects move forward successfully. For this position, you must have the skills and experience to guide and develop your team, the flexibility to handle multiple projects, and the ability to manage bandwidths of both projects and your team members so that individuals are contributing effectively, and projects are meeting established milestones.
Responsibilities Include:
- Manages current staff of 10+ research assistants; provides support and mentorship of RAs to enhance professional development and growth
- Oversees the training of new research assistants and maintains process documentation
- Documents and updates processes to ensure consistency and quality over time; trains research staff on changes and updates
- Engages with potential data collectors and triages interest to appropriate projects
- Consults with Director of Research Operations to determine project staffing needs (pre-development + data collection)
- Review and consolidate information from competitors' test manuals regarding data collection processes, equivalency studies, validation studies, etc.; keep up to date on new versions and updates from competitors and upcoming test development projects
- Review IRB requirements for data collection sites (e.g., school districts, clinics) and apply and maintain, as needed, up to date IRB approval for projects
- Provides administrative support including coordinating R&D accounting processes (e.g., processing invoices, balancing credit card)
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field desired
- Experience:
- Minimum two years managing a team
- Minimum two years working in a research setting.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of study design and data collection processes desired
- Experience with survey platforms preferred (e.g., Survey Monkey, Qualtrics)
- Research Skills:
- Training and experience in research-related skills such as quantitative and qualitative methods, sampling, survey development, IRB processes, and research ethics is highly desired
- Soft Skills:
- Strong oral and written communication skills, a proactive approach to organizational tasks, and the ability to function as a utility player in a developing team environment
