Job Title:Controller Location:Jacksonville, FL (Hybrid) Salary:$165,000 - $175,000 DOE Company:Vaco by Highspring (on behalf of a large healthcare organization)
Vaco is seeking an experienced Healthcare Controller to lead and manage the financial operations of our client's healthcare organization. This role is responsible for overseeing all accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate brings deep healthcare finance expertise, excellent leadership skills, and a proactive approach to process improvement and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets Prepare and review timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP Lead the monthly close process and ensure accuracy of all reporting Develop and manage the annual budget and periodic forecasts in collaboration with executive leadership Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including Medicare/Medicaid cost reporting, and 340B program (if applicable) Manage audits and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies Maintain and improve internal control processes and ensure SOX or other regulatory compliance as applicable Support financial integration and reporting for mergers, acquisitions, or new practice onboarding Provide financial insights and support strategic planning, performance monitoring, and variance analysis Collaborate with clinical and administrative departments to ensure financial goals align with operational priorities Evaluate and implement accounting software and technology upgrades to improve efficiency Lead and mentor the accounting team, ensuring professional development and high performance
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred Minimum of 10years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5years in a leadership role. Prior experience in a Controller or Assistant Controller role strongly preferred Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement models, revenue cycle, and compliance requirements Strong understanding of GAAP and tax compliance regulations Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, NetSuite, or similar Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
