Essential Job Functions |
The primary purpose of the position is to assist in the management of the reservation and event process for the Plemmons Student Union. This involves working with students, faculty, staff, & the community as well as supervising and training 4-8 student staff. The position works with the team to coordinate all building communications between more than 14,000 reserved functions yearly, events, and the operations staff. This position oversees the
PSU TimeClock+ daily approvals as well as assists with the new employee onboarding program and integration into that system. Attend departmental meetings. |
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position |
Positions in this banded classification are characterized by knowledge or skills particular to an area of specialization or process. Work requires specialized knowledge in the processing and application of information, documents and/or materials. The majority of time is allocated to tasks that involve several steps and require the selection of the most appropriate action within procedural and operational guidelines. Work requires knowledge of program policies, procedures and information systems in order to communicate and process information. The range of duties includes, but is not limited to, verifying data, report writing, summarizing and reconciling information or financial data, records management, claims review and processing, data collection and analysis, research, inventory, personnel administration and fund collection or expenditures. The role is different from the Administrative Support Associate because fewer general office or administrative tasks are performed. Examples of the areas of specialization in this banded class include, but are not limited to, payroll, student services, accounting, medical records, statistical, and personnel.
A college degree or a combination of education and experience that results in a high level of competence in the desired skill areas and competence with computer programs, with special emphasis on software programs such as Microsoft Office. Understanding of bookkeeping and/or basic accounting principles is necessary in fulfilling the position's role of coordinating ticket sales for campus events. The position should demonstrate typing skills, in addition to having very good composition and grammar skills. The person should also possess excellent interpersonal communication skills. The person must be very organized, pay careful attention to detail, and work well under pressure.
A new employee should have a minimum of two year's experience in a professional environment that emphasized customer relations, and be competent in the use and instruction of office equipment and computer software programs.
The length of on-the-job training for this position should be intensive for a period of one month and will cover one year before all work related situations can be mastered. |
Preferred Qualifications |
- A college degree or a combination of education and experience that results in a high level of competence in the desired skill areas and competence with computer programs, with special emphasis on software programs such as Microsoft Office, TimeClockPlus, and 25Live (or equivalent scheduling system).
- Be able to demonstrate both written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on excellent composition and grammar skills.
- Must be very organized, pay careful attention to detail, and work well under pressure.
- At least one year experience in a professional environment that emphasized customer relations, and be competent in the use and instruction of office equipment and computer software programs is strongly preferred.
