Reporting directly to the Mass General Brigham Chief Quality Officer, the Administrative Leader, Quality, serves as the department administrator for the Mass General Brigham CQO. The Leader is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of the CQO's portfolio which includes: inpatient quality, home care quality, home hospital quality and specialty ambulatory quality, patient safety, clinical compliance, infection control, clinical documentation integrity, patient reported outcome measures, and any other strategic or episodic/unpredictable system quality issues which arise within Mass General Brigham. This leader has five major competencies/responsibilities: 1) Ensure the overall execution of all priorities of the CQO and MGB within the aforementioned domains 2) Build, maintain and coordinate appropriate structures and processes to effectively manage a system Quality team overseeing multiple domains and hundreds of employees spanning a twelve hospital system 3) Oversee key system-level initiatives or projects, including currently ongoing efforts such as the MGB PROMS program 4) Manage and coordinate resources across the system (project managers, finance managers, etc) to best execute upon the strategic priorities of the CQO and MGB 5) Be a key member of the CQO's leadership team and able to represent the CQO or her direct reports as needed to execute on the work at hand. The individual in this role will have superior change management skills, a calm and unflappable demeanor, the ability to manage an expansive and constantly changing portfolio of work, mature leadership abilities, and the ability to communicate the "why" of transformation to multiple and diverse teams, and a extensive experience in managing both people and teams in a matrix environment. Principal Duties and Responsibilities General Responsibilities
- Support the Chief Quality Officer and her senior leaders in designing and executing the quality strategy for MGB
- Provide administrative leadership to system quality initiatives and priorities, working with senior leadership at the system, site, and department levels.
- Provide administrative leadership for management of system emergencies such as shortages, recalls, or system-wide safety events.
- Coordinate reporting and improvement activities across multiple domains and multiple geographic areas as needed.
- Devise predictable, reliable and transparent processes to transmit strategic goals, performance, and policies between the system and the sites
- Develop onboarding, performance management, continuing education and communications processes for the MGB quality team members who are based at various hospital and ambulatory sites (~200 FTEs)
- Oversee the PROMs team administrative staff (a Director and 6-7 FTE)
- Oversee the executive assistants that manage executives and senior leaders within the CQO's office (3-4 FTE)
- Oversee project management staff within the CQO's office, managing enterprise priorities and acute issues (roughly 5 FTE)
- As part of the integration efforts, organize and consolidate multiple and/or duplicative existing processes into a single, system approach.
- Represent the CQO as needed in the execution of the quality portfolio
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues throughout the MGB Community Division and relevant departments across MGB, and act as a model and champion for integration across Mass General Brigham.
- Perform other duties, as requested.
Project Management
- Oversee a team of 5 project management staff that support key initiatives spanning the domains within the CQO's department, including safety, clinical compliance, infection control, etc.
- Allocate and manage resources in order to ensure maximal efficiency
- Personally lead key initiatives along with the CQO such as AMC Department integration, re-organization of quality contractual/CMS PFP reporting and dissemination, and performance management of sites as it relates to system quality goals.
Department staff & infrastructure management
- In partnership with the CQO's direct reports (VP's of Clinical Compliance, Safety, Quality and Chief of Infection Control), design and implement system-wide, highly reliable approach to onboarding, management, evaluation, continuing education, and team building activities with the significant number of CQO staff members working at 12+ sites.
- Work with OCMO finance team to consolidate and streamline dozens of cost centers across the system
- Manage existing budgets, cost centers, contracts, and SOW that reside within the office of the CQO; provide routine reports to leaders within the CQO to ensure that all parties have transparent and timely access to important financial and contractual documents.
Patient Reported Outcome Measures team (PROMs)
- The MGB PROMs team oversees the world's largest patient reported outcomes program and is part of the CQO's office.
- The Director of MGB PROMs will report to this administrative leader, ensuring that the daily operations of the PROMs program as well as the strategy and performance of this program are aligned within the remainder of the CQO office.
Physician Executive Leadership
- Interface with leadership, departments and services across the system as needed in a collaborative effort to lead the strategic goals of the organization.
- Be able to autonomously and independently represent the CQO and other members of the CQO exec team to other system leaders as it relates to system wide priorities, decisions, engagements.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree (required) with minimum 7 years' experience; graduate degree (preferred) in related field.
- Clinical background preferred
- Master's degree in public health, healthcare management or relevant work experience preferred.
- Exceptional organizational and project management experience, preferably in a health care setting.
- Experience related to quality measurement / monitoring and familiarity with clinical workflows and the health care environment strongly preferred
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to support collaboration across hospitals, departments, and clinical practices.
- Experience managing projects in a field related to Quality and Safety preferred.
- Extensive expertise in managing working relationships in matrix structure.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to handle extremely sensitive safety, risk management and other sensitive human resources issues.
- Current knowledge of laws and regulations; ability to interpret, analyze and disseminate critical information to clinical providers.

Working Conditions
- Professional office setting located in Assembly Row, Somerville, MA. Requires travel locally to other Mass General Brigham sites. Reliable access to transportation to travel between sites for business purposes is required.
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
- General day hours with flexibility to meet the demands of the position, including early morning and evening meetings as needed.
