Inside the Role

The Inventory Reliability Manager plays a critical role in ensuring inventory accuracy, stock integrity, and efficient returns processing to maintain on-time, error-free customer fulfillment at the Canton Parts Distribution Center (PDC). This position leads a team responsible for inventory control and quality assurance, including specialists focused on returns, stock discrepancies, and process improvements, as well as floor associates handling cycle counting and inventory validation.

This team ensures that materials are accurately accounted for, shipments are fulfilled without issue, and quality concerns are addressed before they impact customers. The role works cross-functionally to resolve inventory discrepancies, strengthen supplier accountability, and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring analytical problem-solving, operational excellence, and process improvement expertise to reduce inventory errors, prevent quality failures, and ensure the reliability of stock.

Position offers a starting salary range of $95,000 - $121,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive

Inventory Accuracy & Control Leadership

  • Lead a team responsible for cycle counting, stock reconciliation, and inventory audits to maintain high stock accuracy.

  • Oversee the investigation and resolution of inventory discrepancies, minimizing negative customer impact.

  • Work with warehouse teams to reduce inventory errors through process improvements and system enhancements.

  • Ensure cycle counting programs align with Daimler's operational and financial reporting standards.

Quality Assurance & Returns Oversight

  • Supervise specialists responsible for customer and supplier returns, inventory corrections, and process optimization.

  • Ensure returns and quality discrepancies are processed efficiently to minimize customer downtime and operational delays.

  • Conduct root cause analysis on supplier defects, mis-shipments, and inventory variances, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Operational Risk Mitigation & Reliability Improvements

  • Utilize data-driven insights to identify trends in inventory accuracy, material flow disruptions, and recurring order errors.

  • Partner with warehouse leadership and finance teams to align inventory reconciliation efforts with financial reporting requirements.

  • Drive process standardization and compliance in returns processing, inventory audits, and quality investigations.

  • Ensure that supplier and internal quality issues are addressed at the source, reducing the risk of customer order failures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Customer Impact

  • Partner with warehouse operations, finance, and procurement to resolve supplier-related inventory issues before they affect customers.

  • Work closely with customer service teams to proactively manage and reduce fulfillment errors.

  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for inventory reliability and quality issue resolution, ensuring alignment with Daimler's standards.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field required.

  • 3+ years of experience in inventory control, quality assurance, or warehouse operations in a high-volume distribution environment.

  • Strong expertise in cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and root cause analysis.

  • Proficiency in SAP EWM, WMS, or similar warehouse management systems for inventory tracking and reporting.

  • Experience in supplier returns, customer order resolution, and material flow optimization.

  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on problem-solving, data-driven decision-making, and operational reliability.

  • Ability to lead teams, implement process improvements, and drive accountability in inventory operations.

An Exceptional Candidate Might Have

  • Lean Six Sigma or APICS Certification (CPIM or CSCP preferred) for structured inventory and process optimization expertise.

  • Experience leading continuous improvement projects in inventory control and quality assurance.

  • Hands-on experience in preventing inventory-related customer service failures through proactive operational planning.

  • Strong background in vendor negotiations and supplier accountability programs related to material defects and returns.
