To achieve this, Syngenta's Crop Protection Human Resources Team is looking for a Senior Payroll Analyst in Greensboro, NC, to aid in the processing of bi-weekly and monthly payrolls. This role involves ensuring all tax obligations are met and that tax reporting is completed promptly and accurately. Additionally, it is essential to guarantee that all employees receive their payments correctly and on time, adhering to current pay practices and regulations.

Accountabilities:

  • Supporting the timely and accurate administration of bi-weekly and monthly US company payroll processing, Liaisingwith multiple vendors including time and attendance, tax services, garnishment team as well as our off-shore support team via multiple ticketing platforms to ensure accurate data processing and issue resolution.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and facilitate post process reporting in support of Finance and Total Rewards (payroll funding, GL, HSA/FSA, Credit Union, Union Dues, United Way and PAC) including retirement funding for US and Puerto Rico with our retirement vendors.
  • Manage inquiries from employees, managers, and HR Business Partners, providing superior customer service and payroll knowledge.
  • Ensure compliance with tax obligations by coordinating with the payroll provider's Tax Team to file reports accurately and address tax notices
  • Apply for tax authority IDs as needed and communicate them to the payroll provider's Tax Team.
  • Responsible for quarterly and annual payroll reconciliations, including employee W2s. Provide instruction to the payroll provider's tax support for employee tax adjustments and request amended tax returns/W-2Cs as needed.
  • Administer payroll corrections, off-cycle processing, and manage garnishments, wage attachments, and child support orders in collaboration with the payroll provider's garnishment team.
  • Review payroll accounting issues, prepare ad hoc reports for tax agencies and attorneys, and maintain local work instructions for various processes.
  • Support analysis of payroll accounting issues using payroll data and General Ledger systems.
  • Administer the payroll provider's timekeeping platform for all non-exempt employees including accurate timecard reporting, approving and committing for payroll processing, corrections, employee/manager training, access issues, vacation accruals, annual holiday updates, etc.
  • Manage multiple complex pay and entitlement policy configurations including collaboration with site leaders, HR Business Partners and our payroll provider.
  • Review and address results from recurring employee audits related to employee tax withholding to ensure withholding accuracy.
  • Advise and support NA Payroll and NA HR Operations projects as needed.
  • Manage off-cycle processing to minimize costs through coordination with Payroll Team and strategic planning.
  • Manage employee garnishments, wage attachments and child support orders in coordination with the payroll provider's garnishment team.
  • Create and maintain job aids for processes and cross-train with team members as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in full-cycle, multi-state payroll processing
  • Certified Payroll Professional certification a plus
  • Experience with payroll tax returns, tax deposits, W2 preparation, etc. required
  • In-depth working knowledge of federal, state and local payroll practices/regulation
  • Experience with multiple payroll/HCM platforms including Dayforce/Workday a plus
  • Advanced MS Office/Excel skills required including pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
