The RN will provide safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.

Duties:

Performs body system assessment accurately and promptly.
Recognizes and provides ongoing assessment of any change in patient condition.
Monitors, recognizes, and abnormal test results.
Assesses patient/family educational needs and expectations for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program.
Evaluates the plan of care and makes changes to meet the on-going needs of the patient.
Evaluates the care provided by other members of the team.
Develops an individual plan of care based on assessment parameters.
Prioritizes routine and emergency care based on the ongoing assessment of the patient.
Reports abnormal assessment findings promptly.
Documents system assessment, nursing interventions, and patient response accurately.
Documents medication administration promptly and accurately.
Documents all pertinent variances from the plan of care.
Documents appropriately for transfer of patient care inter- and intra-agency. Including the current COBRA/EMTALA guidelines.
Temporarily functions as charge nurse in absence of clinical charge nurse.
Provides for care of patients requiring blood glucose monitoring.
Provides for care of patients requiring blood and/or blood components.
Provides for care of patients requiring IV conscious sedation.
Provides for care of patients requiring restraints.
Provides for care of patients requiring IV insertion, maintenance, and discontinuation.
Provides for the management of patients pre, intra, and post diagnostic endoscopy, with or without a therapeutic procedure.
Provides for the management of patients pre, intra, and post therapeutic pain management intervention.
Demonstrates an understanding of the principles of operating room asepsis.
Maintains ACLS certification.
Demonstrates an understanding of flexible endoscope cleaning and high-level disinfection.
Demonstrates an understanding of electrosurgical system operation and safety.
Demonstrates an understanding of specimen collection.
Provides for care of patients receiving patient controlled analgesia.
Provides for care of geriatric, adult, school age, adolescent, preschool, toddler, neonate/infant patients.
Provides for care of geriatric, adult, school age, adolescent, preschool, toddler, neonate/infant patients.
Performs treatments/procedures and/or cares for patients with conditions not listed above after appropriate education/orientation.

Requirements:

Education requirements: Graduate of an accredited or NLN approved RN program.

Work experience requirements: Prefer one (1) year full time or three (3) years part time in an acute care setting.

Required licenses/ certifications/courses Current South Carolina RN license or qualifying compact license. Current CPR certification. BLS and ACLS required (or obtained during orientation).

Required skills, knowledge and abilities: Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
