Summary
The Business Developer is responsible for all sales activities in assigned regions. They work with staff members to grow the existing customer base, create new customer base, coordinate efforts required to close sales and meet or exceed sales expectations while increasing customer satisfaction. The Business Developer will manage quality and consistency of product and service delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Present and educate about the company products to current and potential specifiers and customers.
- Prepare action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through research, networking, and outreach.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers and identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to develop compelling value propositions and marketing materials.
- Participate in the development of new business opportunities.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive threats.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the company's products, services, and capabilities.
- Follow up on referrals resulting from field activity and from new leads.
- Prepare presentations and participate in preparing quotes.
- Develop and maintain sales materials and current product knowledge.
- Manage regional service through follow-ups.
- Identify and resolve customer concerns.
- Prepare a variety of status reports, including activities, closings, follow-up, and adherence to goals.
- Communicate new product opportunities, special developments, information, or feedback gathered through field activity to appropriate company staff.
- Develop and implement special sales activities, such as special seminars or sponsorship of events, etc.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Participate in marketing events such as seminars, trade shows, and cold call events.
- Requires working a flexible schedule and overnight travel, occasional weekend, and/or evening work to include traveling a minimum of 17 weeks per year.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree or four years of sales or marketing experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Valid driver's license required.
Computer Skills
- Proficiency with CRM software, understanding of automated sales tools to streamline outreach (e.g., LinkedIn), as well as communication and presentation tools.
Other Requirements
- Work requires significant travel to current and potential customers as well as exhibiting at trade shows, etc.

- Ability to negotiate and close deals with maximize value for both parties
- Handling of objections: overcoming customer hesitations and pushback
- Crisis management: pivoting strategies when challenges arise
