About Us:
The Arc of Colorado, established in 1954, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting the human rights of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Through a robust network of 15 local chapters and approximately 3,700 members, the organization serves over 9,000 individuals and families annually across Colorado. 
Mission: The Arc of Colorado is committed to ensuring that people with I/DD are fully included and can participate actively in their communities throughout their lives. 
Core Beliefs: • Every individual possesses inherent value, strengths, and abilities, deserving equal treatment under the law with dignity and respect. • All people have moral and civil rights providing them with opportunities to love, work, play, learn, and worship in communities where they choose to live.
Key Activities: • Public Policy Advocacy: Influencing public policy to ensure necessary supports and services are in place for persons with I/DD to have a common life. • Public Awareness: Increasing public awareness of the rights and needs of persons with I/DD. • Chapter Support: Supporting and developing local chapters. • Collaboration: Collaborating with national, state, and local organizations sharing the same values.

Responsibilities
• Supporting patients and families with compassionate guidance during their healthcare journey • Offering a friendly ear to listen and provide emotional comfort in times of stress • Connecting individuals with community resources and referral services to meet their needs • Collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure a smooth and coordinated care experience • Educating on available social and financial support options to empower informed decisions • Helping to navigate healthcare policies and paperwork with patience and care • Encouraging a sense of well-being and hope through every step of the recovery process
Qualifications
• A caring attitude and a genuine passion for supporting individuals and families during challenging times. • A solid educational foundation in social work, often a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work is preferred. • Experience or training in healthcare settings, ensuring comfort with medical terminology and patient care. • Strong communication skills that help build trust and open dialogue with patients and their loved ones. • Empathy and active listening abilities to understand each person's unique story. • Familiarity with community resources and a network of support services to guide people effectively. • A proactive mindset dedicated to advocating for patient rights and overall well-being.
