JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) is currently seeking a Research Computing Facilitation Supervisor who will manage the Institute's research information systems and security services, with a strong focus to support and enhance the computational capabilities of the SSRI research community. They will facilitate collaboration within and between institutes to address data storage and faculty research computing needs. In addition, this position will work across SSRI units to oversee and coordinate programming/training including support of administrative data reporting needs for a collaborative environment that accelerates research innovation.

This position will report to the SSRI Research Operations Manager and will work closely with the Director and Unit Directors of SSRI.

Responsibilities: Following are the responsibilites of this position:

  • Manage the Institute's research information systems to ensure security development, maintenance, awareness, compliance, controls and procedures are consistent with University policies and guidelines; ensure disaster recovery/business continuity plans are created and maintained.
  • Work with faculty and unit teams to analyze computational requirements, initiate new project concepts, research tools and emerging technologies, present technical proposals and ensure the unit is meeting the research needs of faculty.
  • Facilitate collaborative partnerships among university teams by actively exchanging information and lending support to identify risks, issues, requirements and aligning design solutions to enhance data-related initiatives and to build a world-class environment for our faculty.
  • In collaboration with university partnerships, provide suggestions and oversee process improvement implementations to support SSRI operational reporting needs.
  • Coordinate planning of projects and utilization of programming resources across SSRI units.
  • Ensure compliance with research data related agreements.
  • Stay current with technological advancements and recommend improvements or upgrades as needed.
  • Recommend and/or write requests for proposals (RFPs) and liaison with vendors.
  • Working with the Research Operations Manager, support monitoring and tracking of SSRI budgets and expenditures.
  • Lead and manage a team to provide direction and development in ensuring optimal delivery of services; hire, develop, evaluate and mentor/coach staff.

Education and Experience: The minimum requirements are a bachelor's degree or higher and 3+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience are required for this position. Additional education and/or experience are required for higher-level positions. The successful candidate will also have the following:

  • Effective administrative, management, communication, and technical writing skills are essential in addition to the following:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research information systems and computing environments
  • Experience in creating educational and resource materials and presentations (e.g., graphical presentation of data and concepts)
  • Experience in managing multiple, diverse, complex projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and team management skills, outstanding oral and written communication skills

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$76,700.00 - $129,500.00
