The Packaging Line Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the packaging and retail bagging departments, ensuring efficient production, adherence to quality standards, and a safe work environment. This role involves coordinating team activities, monitoring equipment, and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities



  • Performs duties as assigned by the Packaging Supervisor or their designee.
  • Ensures adherence to the daily production, packaging, and retail bagging schedule.
  • Coordinates, organizes, and assigns subordinates daily job tasks in packaging and retail bagging departments.
  • Monitoring equipment operation and performing quality control checks (e.g., metal detector testing, temperature monitoring).
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including production reports, quality logs, and employee time records.
  • Ensuring proper application of labels, codes, and packaging materials.
  • Verifies that metal detectors are operational and performs regular tests as directed by the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Informs maintenance department or Packaging Supervisor of equipment maintenance issues.
  • Adjusts and prepares ink jet coder for daily production. Monitors to ensure accuracy and legibility.
  • Ensures all packaging documentation, including finished product report, spoils report, metal detector log, pallet tags, check list, and daily employee hour's reports, and other documentation, is filled out accurately, legibly, and on time.
  • Ensures that sufficient packaging materials are available for daily activities (cartons, labels, retail bags, pallets, pallet tags, case tape, etc.).
  • Operates forklift and pallet jack to move product, including into and out of freezer.
  • Ensures subordinates are wearing the proper protective freezer clothing issued when performing job tasks in the freezer.
  • Collaborate closely with the Machine Operator and Lead.
  • Enters case production (finished goods) information into spreadsheet
  • Does data entry of production runs as per requirements of MOVEX/SAP
  • Follow all applicable job procedures as outlined in the SOP manual.
  • Through Aspire AOE training understands and uses Centerline and CIL daily management systems
  • Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving process
  • Performs area walk daily to detect issues & defects to help reduce and maintain waste levels
  • Follows standard work procedures and trains others on current best approach to minimize system variation
  • Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by sharing improvement ideas with management and actively engaging in AOE pillar activities.
  • Adhere to GMPs and Health and Safety rules outlined in the employee handbook, including:
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe working environment in assigned production areas and workstations.
  • Immediately reporting any unsafe conditions, incidents, or injuries to a supervisor or lead hand.
  • Using all required personal protective equipment.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with food safety practices, including:
  • Maintaining all tools in good repair and reporting any broken, damaged, or missing tools to a supervisor or lead hand (do not discard damaged tools).
  • Following all GMPs, including maintaining personal hygiene, handwashing/sanitizing, and cleaning up spills (ingredients, water, debris, wood, etc.).
  • Report any issues or deviations to supervisors, including immediately reporting any potential contamination or suspicious activity to line leadership.
  • Reporting any unusual people or behaviors to a supervisor as a part of food security protocols.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Two years of related manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as production schedules, safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to complete routine reports

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software. Ability to learn new computer software as required by the company


Preferred



  • Knowledge of inventory control software helpful.
  • Forklift certification preferred.



Shift:1ST (6:00 Am - 2:30 pm) *must work weekends*
