What You'll Do

This position will support the US Army Corps of Engineers ACE-IT Program. The System Administrator may interact with network services, software systems engineering, and/or applications development to restore service and/or identify and correct core problems. Simulates or recreates user problems to resolve operating difficulties. Recommends systems modifications to reduce user problems. Maintains currency and highest level of technical skill in field of expertise.

Primary Responsibilities

With advanced expertise in systems and Office 365, along with considerable latitude in decision-making, this role provides infrastructure support for USACE operating systems, workstations, and servers in alignment with USACE's cloud migration strategy. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and maintaining existing infrastructure, including UNIX/LINUX/AIX/WINDOWS servers, ensuring seamless system and application operations
  • Coordinating, directing, and performing software installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades, ensuring version currency and infrastructure refreshes
  • Scheduling installations and upgrades in line with the latest vendor releases
  • Continuously monitoring and optimizing multiple systems to maintain peak performance and cybersecurity standards
  • Monitoring hosted servers for error conditions requiring preventive maintenance and ensuring ongoing security patch deployment
  • Evaluating, implementing, and managing software and hardware solutions to maintain workstation/server data integrity
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
  • 4+ years of professional, applicable experience
  • Experience managing infrastructure, including UNIX/LINUX/AIX/WINDOWS environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Exchange and Office 365
  • Experience with Office 365
  • Current DoD 8570 IA Baseline Certification, IAT Level I (examples: A+ CE, Network+ CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security certifications)
  • Must obtain appropriate DoD 8570 IA Computing Environment Certification within 6 months of employment
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Experience supporting a wide varieties of output devices, including; HP, Ricoh, Canon, Xerox, and Lexmark, and Konica Minolta. Experience should include the use of vendor proprietary configuration tools, monitoring tools, and coordinating third party warranty repairs
  • Expertise in installing and configuring firmware and CAC authentication software
  • Experience using Remedy or a similar ticketing system
  • Strong analytical and follow through skills
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple IT teams to accomplish assignments
  • Capacity to work independently on defined tasks and contribute effectively as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior USACE/ACE-IT experience
  • Experience working in a DoD environment
