Compass is looking for an Assistant Controller to join our Central Business Office located in Vancouver, WA.

Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week. This role will be fully onsite with the possibility of moving to hybrid (2 days working from home) after 6 months.
Location:Central Business Office (Vancouver, WA)

Salary Range: $76,415 - $129,903 salaried

**Final offer amounts are determined by a review of the candidate's applicable experience and qualifications, as well as, internal employee equity considerations.

Scope: Prepare, process, and maintain assigned activities in an accurate and timely manner for the preparation of monthly financial statements. Support and adhere to the Compass Oncology and US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

  • Implement financial policies and procedures as determined by management for areas such as general ledger, financial statements, year-end workpapers, supporting documentation, and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare and support journal entries for all non-system entries.

  • Participate in the completion of the Month-End Close Checklist for all assigned action items to ensure adherence to corporate timelines.

  • Maintain appropriate internal control safeguards over accounting functions.

  • Provide support to department managers, administration, and physicians in the preparation, understanding, and use of financial information.

  • Prepare the monthly financial reporting package, including drafts of the Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) document.

  • Analyze financial results, summarize findings, and offer recommendations for improvement as necessary.

  • Supervise clerical staff as assigned, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial data.

  • Review payroll data and other analyses prepared by staff for accuracy and compliance.

  • Perform EOB (Explanation of Benefits) analysis and other financial analyses as requested.

  • Reconcile bank and inter-company accounts, ensuring all balances are accurate and supported by appropriate documentation.

  • Serve as a backup for the Accountant II and Controller when needed.

  • Provide additional support for special financial projects and tasks as directed by the Executive Director and CFO/Controller.

  • Apply critical and agile thinking to navigate financial challenges, make informed decisions, and adjust quickly to changing financial circumstances while maintaining alignment with organizational goals and timelines.


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Experience/Training:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant accounting or finance experience.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel, including the use of Pivots, VLookups, and Macros.

  • Strong ability to quickly learn and adapt, with the flexibility to work both collaboratively within a team and independently.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically in dynamic environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least three years of public accounting experience.

  • Experience in healthcare finance is preferred.

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation preferred.
