Description Are you an experienced and compassionate ophthalmic tech ready to take on a leadership role? We're looking for a Lead Ophthalmic Technician to support our Santa Monica Specialty clinic. In this role, you'll help ensure smooth clinic operations by coordinating patient flow, guiding ophthalmic support staff, and fostering an efficient, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee the Ophthalmic Technicians and Scribes including coordination of work shifts, lunches, and problem-solving
  • Obtain medical and ocular histories from patients and perform all necessary tests for physicians to adequately diagnose ophthalmic disorders
  • Assist with patient care administrative issues and escalations
  • Maintain pharmacy refills and auths
  • Manage clinic devices and inventory
Salary Range: $38.11-$50.28 Hourly
Qualifications Required:
* Minimum 5+ years of recent experience providing technical support in an Ophthalmology practice.
* Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician.
* Knowledge of ophthalmic clinical protocols, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology of the visual systems.
* Skill in acquiring accurate medical history, measuring and recording visual acuity, and tonometry.
* Ability to type with speed and accuracy.
* Ability to work on a self- directed basis with limited supervision.
* Ability to analyze clinical and administrative information and determine appropriate course(s) of action to resolve conflicts and discrepancies.
* Ability to interact effectively with patients, staff and physicians.
* Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of patient-related testing equipment.
* Responsible and detailed-oriented.
* Ability to learn state of the art diagnostic equipment.
* Ability to organize and prioritize duties to maximize clinic efficiency.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage a busy workload.
* Ability to work as a team member in an ophthalmic setting.
Preferred:
* Minimum 5 years of recent experience in teaching facility.
