Plans, organizes, and directs patient transport activities provided to clinical departments within the hospital. This includes direct management of three units: Transport Call Center, Equipment Inventory Operations, and Hospital Transport Services for the entire East Baltimore Campus. Works collaboratively with clinical and exam/procedural leadership to support transport operations and patient care activities. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Budget Responsibilities - Develops department operating budgets and ensures that the department operates within established guidelines. Authority/Decision Making Level - Responsible for the efficient operation of the patient transport operations. Plans and organizes staffing patterns and schedules for subordinates. Assists with the development and interpretation of policies and procedures for the department. Responsible for preparing accurate departmental records and reports for accounting, key metrics, and performance statistics. Selects, evaluates, and when necessary, disciplines or discharges subordinate personnel. Supervisory Responsibility - Develops and implements departmental goals and objectives and monthly staff training for patient transport and call center operations. Plans and organizes staffing patterns and work schedules for subordinates. Ensures compliance with JHMI policies. Assists with developing and interpreting policies, as well as accurate departmental reports for accounting and performance statistics. Hires, evaluates, disciplines, and discharges subordinate staff. Develops and monitors preventive maintenance schedules for equipment. Manages customer service representatives, oversees environmental service calls, generates and analyzes reports, and monitors transport operation center and reading room workflow. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Education - Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree. Experience beyond the work experience requirement may be substituted for the degree on 2 years of experience for 1 year of education (i.e., 8 years). 5 years or more of running a call center and managing transport teams. Knowledge - General knowledge of hospital policies and procedures, related JCAHO regulations, equipment management, and software related to patient movement. Familiar with routines and practices of the patient transport to plan and assign work and follow up with employees performing standardized activities. Skills - Requires keen analytical skills to resolve problems and/or investigate complaints, prepare reports, and interpret data. Must have the ability to gather and organize data. Interpersonal skills are required to provide and exchange information with hospital staff to resolve problems. Required Licensure, Certification, etc. - Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) Work Experience - Five years of related experience managing transport operations and/or call centers in a large medical center. Machines, tools, and equipment - Must be familiar with PCs, mobile devices, automated patient transport dispatch systems, and general office and communications equipment. Manage the departmental budget to ensure goals and objectives are met. Authorizes expenditures within established departmental guidelines. Training in using equipment to transport patients and call center experience is recommended. Problem solving - Analytical ability is required to complete tasks, gather and interpret data, and resolve problems. Information management - Ability to obtain and utilize information from SAP, Kronos, Workforce Management, and Epic systems to effectively manage Hospital Transport. ***Authorization to Work in the United States:Applicants who require sponsorship now or in the future will not be considered for this position. Salary Range: Minimum $29.40/hour - Maximum $51.46/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
