POSITION SUMMARY



  • Responsible for developing, installing, and maintaining cost effective methods of manufacturing, fair and equitable manufacturing operating standards; also responsible for generating and implementing cost reduction proposals for direct and indirect labor operations at all manufacturing locations.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Participate at initiation phase of new product lines to assist in design for cost effective manufacturing, building tooling by motion economy principles.
  • Develop and design workplace layout through the use of motion economy principles, handling devices, etc.
  • Develop, install, and maintain equitable standards.
  • Measure variances to standards, identify out of control variances, investigate reasons, suggest solutions, install and follow up.
  • Keep division performance within budgeted performance standards.
  • Keep abreast of technology trends, investigate, and install most effective methods of manufacturing to keep company competitive.
  • Keep records of methods changes that reduce production costs and strive to attain budgeted goal.
  • Select appropriate technique of work measurement and measure work contents to support labors; establish standards and measure performance against standards.
  • Develop management information systems for planning and control purposes.
  • Participate in APQP program.
  • Perform MODAPTs studies as required.
  • Current Model; New Model Programs; monitor Plant progress; publish program status; feedback report to APQP teams.
  • Authorized to make job changes concerning line speed.
  • Assist in reducing floor space usage.
  • Assist Corporate Senior Industrial Engineer in achieving direct labor, indirect labor, and diverted direct labor reduction targets.
  • Perform other essential functions as assigned.


SPECIAL SKILLS



  • Computer literate
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills


WORKING CONDITIONS



  • Normal office environment
  • Normal shop environment, which includes travel to plant sites; use of personal protection equipment; hazards and conditions typically associated with a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelors of Industrial Engineering (preferred)
Experience
1 - 2 years: Experience in Industrial Engineering preferably in automotive metal stamping
