The BNSF Railway Finance Department provides innovative strategic solutions and world-class financial services to support BNSF's overall performance. Within the Finance Department, several specialized departments contribute to its overall mission: Controller, Revenue Management, Strategic Sourcing, Tax, Treasury, and Strategic Studies. Each department is vital in managing BNSF's financial health and strategic financial planning. These departments work collaboratively to secure BNSF's economic stability and support its growth and innovation within the railway industry.

This is a full-time positionlocated in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.

Travel is minimal to none

Key responsibilities may include:

Partner with Engineering, Signal, Technology, Mechanical, and other capital budget teams to weigh in on capital vs operating determinations as well as capital project in-service timelines

Create and review system rules for completed capital projects to settle to proper asset classes

Analyze and use critical thinking skills to determine source and cause of settlement variances and finding way to correct and prevent them

Utilize SQL to transition to SAP HANA views for reporting and analysis needs

Assist with ad-hoc projects to ensure accurate asset records and proper depreciation expense

Handle ad-hoc capital spend or book value requests from Studies, Tax, and Cost teams

Prepare annual and quarterly R-1, Form D, SOX control reports

Prepare and analyze depreciation studies, looking for automation opportunities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems is required

  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in finance-related field, as applicable

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of basic accounting and journal entries

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with intermediate level in Microsoft Excel

  • Demonstrate an ability to learn SAP modules

  • Knowledge of SAP

  • 3+ years of experience with BNSF Finance, the accounting/finance department of another company, or public accounting
