Job Summary and Responsibilities

Acentra Health is looking for a Director of Accounting Services to join our growing team.

Job Summary:

The Director of Accounting Services is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Payroll functions. This role ensures the efficient, accurate, and compliant processing of financial transactions while driving innovation through the use of AI and automation. The Director of Accounting services reports directly to the SVP, Controller. Additionally, proficiency with Costpoint is essential to effectively manage and optimize the organization's financial systems and processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy
    • Develop and execute strategies to optimize AP, AR, and Payroll operations.
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of accounting professionals, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Collaborate with senior management to align departmental goals with the overall business strategy.
  • Accounts Payable (AP) Management
    • Oversee the processing of vendor invoices, payment approvals, and disbursements.
    • Implement controls to prevent errors and fraud, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments.
    • Monitor AP aging and resolve discrepancies or issues.
  • Accounts Receivable (AR) Management
    • Supervise billing processes, collections, and customer account reconciliations.
    • Ensure timely issuance of invoices and effective follow-up on overdue accounts.
    • Develop and maintain reporting to track AR performance and cash flow projections.
  • Payroll and Subcontractor Administration
    • While payroll processing is outsourced, oversee payroll processing to ensure accurate and on-time employee compensation. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal payroll regulations. Collaborate with HR and legal departments to manage benefits, deductions, and related payroll adjustments.
  • Close process
    • Coordinate with Assistant Controller that all processes are consistent with closing schedule. Ensure accounts related to these areas are reconciled.
    • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies, and regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate with internal and external auditors during financial reviews and audits.
  • Process Improvement, AI, and Automation
    • Evaluate and implement technology solutions, including ERP systems like Costpoint, automation tools, and AI-driven analytics, to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting processes.
    • Leverage AI and automation to streamline workflows, reduce manual errors, and improve overall financial reporting.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction while maintaining high-quality financial reporting.
    • Lead change management initiatives related to system upgrades or process overhauls.
    • Work closely with other departments such as HR, IT, and operations to ensure smooth inter-departmental processes.
    • Act as a key liaison for financial matters with vendors, clients, and external partners.
    • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to support company-wide financial decisions.
    • Read, understand, and adhere to all corporate policies including policies related to HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Proven track record in a leadership role overseeing complex financial operations
  • Experience with audit processes and financial regulatory compliance
  • Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems, with demonstrated expertise in Costpoint.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Proven experience in process automation and the application of AI technologies to drive efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with significant experience managing AP, AR, and Payroll functions. Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience integrating AI and automation technologies in financial processes is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to think strategically while maintaining operational effectiveness.
