Position Highlights The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (CMM) at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson is seeking a full-time Lecturer in cell biology, histology, and histopathology. The Department of CMM serves broad educational needs within the College of Medicine, Tucson, including the MS program in Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Certificate in Biomedical Sciences, MS in Genetics Counseling, and Bachelor of Sciences in Medicine. We are seeking a passionate, creative educator with experience teaching cell and tissue biology to various student populations, including online and in-person. Teaching assignments will include approximately 18 credit hours in a 9-month academic year, which will involve a combination of in-person and online / hyflex. Additional opportunities for summer teaching, team teaching in the medical program, and development of new courses may be available.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer online and in-person histology and histopathology courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels (develop and provide instructor-led content, manage team-based and active learning sessions, grade assignments, etc.).
  • Opportunities to team-teach at the medical level may be available for qualified candidates.
  • Guide students through practical exercises involving digital histology and histopathology slide work.
  • Contribute to online courses in histology, histopathology, cell, or tissue biology.
  • Work closely with the CMM Associate Head of Education and Director of the Graduate Programs for assignment of teaching duties and regular revision of courses.
  • Attend regular meetings of the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine's Curriculum Committee.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with teaching practices and a desire to work with various student populations.
  • Willingness to teach in-person and online, with training available for transitions to novel teaching modalities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD biomedical sciences, cell biology, anatomy, pathology, or related field.
  • Experience teaching.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as instructor of record.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with online teaching programs (Panopto, PlayPosit, etc.), digital histopathology slide visualization apps.
  • Experience in course development.
