Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Clerk position is accountable for collecting timekeeping information, incorporating a variety of deductions into a payroll cycle, and issuing pay and pay-related information to employees.

Salary is $20/hour

Hours will be 9am - 2pm M-F

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the payroll manager, the Payroll Assistant position is accountable for collecting timekeeping information, incorporating a variety of deductions into a payroll cycle, and issuing pay and pay-related information to associates.

  • Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating and entering data.
  • Process court-ordered garnishments, child support orders, and other wage assignments. Ensuring all court interrogatories are completed and submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Update employee payroll records as needed.
  • Bi-weekly distribution of paychecks and issuance of pay cards as needed.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Contributes to HR team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Act as a backup when the Payroll Manager is out.
  • Provide all associates with strong payroll and HR support and assistance as needed
  • Interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers in a professional manner
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and follow all safety regulations and practices
  • Open-minded willingness for continual learning
  • Follow all Koorsen policies, procedures, and core values
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate by management

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Prior experience working in Payroll or HR department, is preferred
  • Understanding of payroll and employment laws and regulations preferred
  • Knowledge of wage withholding orders is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail, and basic mathematical skills
  • Proficiency working with a computer, using email, and with Microsoft Suite; Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Ability to use a 10-key pad to perform data entry efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner
  • Confidentiality and respect for the privacy of employee records is a must
  • Ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment
  • Pass drug and background screening

Preferred:

  • Prior experience writing in Payroll
  • Understanding of payroll and employment laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of wage withholding orders
  • Certified/Union Payroll experience

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms

HIRING PROCESS (in addition to an interview):

  1. New hires must complete the I-9 Verification form with 3 days of hire. This form is required by the U.S. Department of Justice and Immigration and Immigration and Naturalization Services and is used to verify your identity and right to work in the United States. In addition, we verify employment eligibility via E-Verify.
  2. Background checks with criminal courts, state and county repositories of criminal records, the Department of Motor Vehicles, are required of all Positions.
  3. Tests for Evidence of Substance Abuse by way of urinalysis test is required if this application results in an offer of employment.
