Position Summary
The Manager, Clinical Education Services leads a geographically dispersed team of Clinical Education Specialists (CES). This role directly manages a team of Clinical Education Specialists (CES) and ensures that they remain current with industry standards, regulations, and STERIS products, thereby driving successful on-site customer assessments through troubleshooting, and education. The manager is responsible for the strategic professional education and clinical support for STERIS Customers in infection prevention, reprocessing, and perioperative practice. This role will work in conjunction with and collaborate with field sales teams to enhance the overall customer experience. This position is home based in the United States and will require 40-50% nationwide domestic travel.
What You'll do as a Manager, Clinical Education Services
- Responsible for the development and effective team management by maintaining and evaluating team member performance and offering development opportunities.
- Provides coaching, guidance, and professional development opportunities for CES team members. Ensures CES team provides exceptional Customer service by upholding the STERIS values.
- Directs the efforts of the CES team to proactively identify Customer clinical education needs and facilitate the development and delivery of solutions. Works in partnership to the sales team and/or to the Customer to determine and recommend solutions based on specific needs.
- Creates, and conducts presentations to key Customers in clinical and technical areas of expertise.
- Acts as a subject matter expert to provide expertise during risk assessments and process failures, including product quality issue resolution.
- Actively participate in educational offerings in support of professional chapters and organizations such as AORN, APIC, ASCA, ASQ, AST, HSPA, and SGNA.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with key stakeholders including healthcare professionals, industry leaders, professional organizations, sales, marketing, and Customers.
- Researches and provides current and just in time relevant clinical information to support regional sales teams during Customer engagements, including industry standard and guideline interpretation.
- Leads the CES team in communicating business strategies, developing new Customer relations, conducting clinical site assessments, and delivering clinical education services.
- Drafts and provides direct input to the development ongoing review, and update of clinical education policies, procedures, onboarding handbook, and reference materials.
- Contributes and maintains oversight of the development and management of the operating budget for the field- based team.
- Collaborates across the marketing teams and new product development teams to monitor and ensure that teams are supported appropriately from the assigned CES representative.
- Seeks out and actively participates in ongoing professional development activities as required for maintaining professional qualifications and recertification.
- Administrative Responsibilities: Ensures timely completion and submission of all Customer assessment reports, monthly reports, expense reports, GPS activities, eLearning, and any other required activities for the CES team.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Hold, obtain and maintain national certifications and be in good standing with various professional organizations required.
- 8 years clinical experience required. Expertise in the Operating Room, Central Supply, Infection Prevention/Control (IP) required.
- 5years in a OR, SPD, IP, or similar leadership position (e.g. charge nurse, manager, director, system director) required.
- Proficient in understanding of surgical instrumentation and principles of reprocessing (cleaning, disinfection, sterilization) required.
- Proven track record experience in clinical practice, which may include perioperative practice, infection prevention/control, reprocessing departments, medical or nursing required.
- Ability to travel 40-50% required.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must be able to be compliant with hospital/customer credentialing requirements required.
Preferred
- Master's degree preferred.
- Nursing degree strongly preferred.
- Experience with infection prevention and device processing department.
- Experience with teaching clinical and technical programs.
- Experience with interpretation and implementation of ANSI/AAMI standards.
- Familiarity with health care facility credentialing surveys.
- Demonstrated record of teaching, publication, and progressive professional experience.

- Demonstrated competence in understanding surgical instrumentation and principles of reprocessing (cleaning, disinfection, sterilization).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present before large groups.

#LI-SA2 #LI-Remote Pay range for this opportunity is$91,250.00-$127,575.00.This position is eligible for bonus participation. Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.
