One of only five computing-focused schools among Association of American Universities (AAU) members, UC Irvine's Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences is home to the departments of Computer Science, Informatics, and Statistics. The School's mission is to lead innovation in human-centered information and computing technologies, understand their economic and social significance, and develop an educated workforce to further advance technology. With approximately 4,000 undergraduates, 600 master's students, 400 doctoral students, 100 faculty members, and 85 staff, the School is the largest computing program within the UC system and one of the largest in the nation, providing exceptional opportunities for discovery and learning in all areas of information and computer sciences.


Your Role on the Team

The Senior Assistant Dean for the Bren School of Information & Computer Sciences (ICS) provides administrative leadership and day-to-day management of the School's general operations. Incumbent works directly with the Dean and other School leadership in defining and overseeing the implementation of key priorities related to the school's academic mission. Establishes operating objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinate managers. Responsible for managing, preparing, administering, and directing resources including financial strategy and operations, space planning and facilities, computing support, academic personnel processes and human resources. Reviews and approves recommendations for organizational or workflow changes having School-wide impact. Ensures adherence with University policy, including financial, human resources, and cybersecurity/IT compliance objectives.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $$128,800.00- $$221,350.00 (Annual).

Required:

  • Ability to establish metrics for School goals.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; accounting and payroll.
  • Excellent skills to work collaboratively and act persuasively in sensitive situations; skills in conflict management techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and influence others and to develop and maintain high standards of customer service.
  • Thorough knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the capability of managing capital projects and space planning.
  • Very strong ability to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify multiple options for resolution.
  • Understanding of academic unit organization and workflows, including budgeting, payroll, and HR and AP practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 5-10 years Minimum of 5 -10 years of progressively responsible roles in an R01 University environment
