Title: Process Controls Automation Technician (PCAT)
Location: Freeport, TX

Salary: $86,800 -$105,000

Focus: The Process Controls Automation Technician (PCAT) is responsible for the development of appropriate control strategies by applying practical plant knowledge and experience to ensure Process Control programming and simulation programming is user friendly and effective at controlling and alarming abnormalities in plant equipment. The PCAT is also responsible for maintaining and improving functions of MOD5 and IP21 applications. MOD 5 Applications, future conversation to DeltaV Applications (AMS, Historian, OPS), IP21, AgileOps, Shift COnnector and other Olin Web applications are routinely used to perform the job requirements. All hardware issues related to Control System and Network systems will be managed by the PCAT.

The Freeport site is the single largest chlor alkali complex in the world with more than 1,000 employees. The chemical products produced at our Freeport location include chlorine and caustic soda, vinyls, epoxies, chlorinated organics, aromatics, bleach, hydrogen, and hydrochloric acid.

PCAT Essential Job Functions:

  • Work in conjunction with the Process Control Engineer to support continuous improvement efforts. Provide support for project start ups. Monitor and improve plant metrics including alarm frequency and instruments in manual and maintain up to date code documentation to support life cycle of plant
  • Support and maintain plan process control systems (MOD5). Leverage Process Control Most Effective Technology (MET).
  • Support/coach operations personnel on day-to-day process control activities and generate/update programming to support day-to-day operations and improvement projects. Serve as first line of contact to assist operations in troubleshooting control issues and data historian (Aspen IP-21) system administrator.
  • Perform DCS program loads for the Epi- 3 facility. Develop and maintain DCS graphics/flowsheets, and provide first level support for DCS hardware.
  • Support data collection integral to Environmental reporting compliance and continually update facility Process Control Strategy.

PCAT Minimum Requirements:

  • Must possess one of the following education and experience requirements:
    • High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of control systems experience
    • Associate's Degree* with 3+ years of control systems experience
    • Bachelor's Degree* with 1+ years of control systems experience
  • Experience and understanding of MOD5 or DeltaV and DeltaV (AMS/Historian/OPS) preferred; Administrative experience with IP21 applications preferred; experience with network architecture preferred.
  • Industrial and/or Chemical Process Environment experience preferred.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical, mathematical, and creative problem solving skills. The ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required. Ability to prioritize and execute several support activities simultaneously is critical.
  • Must be willing to make call outs and work overtime per plant needs
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
